  1. Let me ask you Blatche-sucks holdouts something: You see Wall, McGee, Young, Hinrich, even Gilbert putting their asses on the line, going to the floor, doing whatever it takes to make plays, do you see Blatche doing that as well? Hell he doesn't even want to go strong to the basket. That's got nothing to do with being hurt and out of shape.

I have been a Blatche supporter but I must admit that even my patience is running a bit thin.

That being said, I'm not in the "trade him at all costs" camp either.

Because quite frankly when you look at his age, contract and ability, I don't think you'll get anything comparable in return.

Especially factoring in his sweet contract.

Alonzo Gee rejoins Wizards, Lester Hudson waived

The Wizards have completed a somewhat startling reunion, as the team has brought back swingman Alonzo Gee, according to multiple league sources. In order to make the move possible, the Wizards waived reserve point guard Lester Hudson.

Gee spent part of last season with the Wizards, moving from a 10-day contract player to a starter, before making a surprising decision to bolt for San Antonio after his second 10-day contract expired. Gee averaged 7.4 points and 3 rebounds in 11 games and was well-liked by teammates and members of the coaching staff. Coach Flip Saunders was optimistic that Gee would stick around for the rest of the season after he scored a career-high 19 points in a game against Charlotte.

Gee decided to sign with the Spurs, who were familiar with the 6-foot-6 forward because Gee had spent most the year with San Antonio's Developmental League affiliate, the Austin Toros. The Wizards offered Gee an opportunity to stay for the rest of last season, but the Spurs won him over with the promise of some guaranteed money through this season. He was with the Spurs during the playoffs and participated in summer league.

San Antonio waived Gee last week, making him a free agent after he scored a total of two points in five games. The Wizards always remained high on Gee, who provides energy, hustle and intensity. He had 13 points and 10 rebounds in a game against Denver last March. Gee also is just 23 and fits with the team's rebuilding-with-youth efforts.

The Wizards had 15 players under contract, which means they would have to release someone. Hudson was on a non-guaranteed contract and struggled in his rare time on the court this season, going 0-for-9 from the field with two points and six assists in five games.

Gee received a non-guaranteed deal with the Wizards, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The team would have until early January to determine whether or not to keep him for the rest of the season. The source added that Gee's signing is not related to the health of Josh Howard, who has yet to play this season while recovering from left knee surgery. Howard is still on schedule to come back some time in December.

  3. And when Josh Howard gets back, our bench should be even stronger. Our frontcourt depth is still a bit weak though, but for a rebuilding franchise we're in pretty good shape.

The million dollar question though is, if Gil is playing well but we're a fringe team(say we have an 8-9 ish playoff seeding)come trade deadline, do we deal Gil? Assuming we get a good package of salary relief + draft picks, I'd have to at least consider it.

I would definitely consider dealing Gil but I haven't ruled out the possibility that he can be a part of our future as well.

  4. . Mannys only shot is to KO him but i don't see it happening although i'd love to see it.. .

Why don't you see it happening?

Sugar Shane Mosley rocked Floyd and he's a lesser fighter (at this point) than Manny is.

If Manny catches Floyd like Shane did, the fight is over.

If you watched the fourth quarter, you noticed that Gilbert Arenas was getting to the lane a lot more than he's done in a little while. Now, granted, the finishes weren't always pretty, and he did most of his damage on three-pointers, but it was great to see how well he was able to get to the rim.

One of the things that intrigued me most was the way the Grizzlies defended Arenas. Tony Allen, the defensive stalwart brought over from Boston in the offseason, really crowded Arenas hard tonight, more than most players I've seen. He also did something that struck me as interesting: he forced Arenas right.

Now, normally, Arenas is better going left, at least according to him, so if Allen was given a scouting report, he followed it well. I don't have a ton of data to back this up, and this is very crude, but it's worth noting that Arenas shot a higher percentage from the left side of the floor in his last healthy year in 2007.

But tonight, it didn't work, as Arenas got in the lane quite easily despite going on his less comfortable hand. After the game, Arenas said Allen was actually doing him a favor.

"I like going left. I have no idea why I like going left, but he pushed me right. But I preferred that today, because I can't really jump off the right ankle. So he was funneling me to his strength, at least for today."

Arenas said he was "a little" surprised when he saw Allen crowding him, but admitted that's just what Allen likes to do. The larger question, though, is whether Arenas can still finish at the rim. He had a couple nice layups tonight, clearly showing he can still get there, but he also looked tentative at times, passing out instead of going up and missing key shots. Sometimes, it didn't matter -- the one lefty layup he missed late was slammed home by JaVale McGee -- but he admitted afterwards that it's still a work in progress.

"There were some shots that I think I pass up because I haven't been used to it the last couple weeks, but every day I'm getting more comfortable jumping off the right and left leg. I gotta finish a little bit better down the road."

Still, it's a good sign that he's improving and playing to his strengths, even if they are new strengths like going to his right hand.

  6. I like having Hinrich on this team. In general I really like our guard rotation. Nick Young has been playing really well on both ends of the floor this year. Wall, Hinrich, Arenas and Young is as good a backcourt you can ask for right now.

McGee is really really impressing me. Man he gets his help defense under control and the sky is the limit. This team can be really really good with a tough gritty front line. With the way Blatche is playing, I'm not sure he has a future on that. I'll give him another week or two to start playing with more energy.

I'm having a hard time evaluating Andray...with him being out of shape and having a sore knee.

I'll have a better feel for him by January.

  7. Well, we're officially ranked last in both of ESPN's power rankings this week. Honestly, this might as well continue, disheartening as it is. Maybe we'll end up with a 40% chance at the number one overall pick this year. We're on pace for what, 20 wins? Guess we'll be praying for draft salvation.

I have a strange feeling that the Wiz are about to turn the corner.

I could be wrong but its just a feeling I have.

Wizards are easing Gilbert Arenas back in

Arenas has come off the bench to score 31 points through his first two games but he is also attempting to regain his rhythm - with the game and his new teammates - and lose the nearly 10 pounds he said he gained while being unable to run. He is also trying to find a comfortable role in an offense that no longer is centered on his talents.

"We're trying. It's tough when a guy misses so much time, especially a guy like Gilbert, where almost everything used to be run around him. It's just a big adjustment," Kirk Hinrich said. "I don't know if I necessarily notice the rust; it's a matter of getting him acclimated with the group. We need him, we need his scoring and we all have to make a conscious effort to make him a big part of what we do down there."

Although he has missed some time, Arenas has still proven to be an effective shot maker, especially in the fourth quarters, when he has scored a combined 22 points and shot 8 for 15. But Saunders said he noticed that Arenas turned down opportunities he should've taken. "I just don't want to seem like I'm shooting too much," Arenas said. "I didn't want take away from what the team has been doing."

Arenas laughed when asked how he would adjust to playing off the ball after being a point guard throughout his career. "Point guard? I was a shooting guard for a while," he said. "It's no difference. I was used to catching and shooting, but I don't get as tired and I don't turn the ball over."

Wall collected his ninth and 10th assists connecting with Arenas in the fourth quarter on Saturday. He found him open for an 18-foot jumper that put the Wizards ahead 88-85 and also for a late three-pointer. The two hooked up for a highlight when Wall stole the ball from Mo Williams and flipped a no-look pass to Arenas, who found Andray Blatche cutting to the hoop for a two-handed dunk.

The ability for Wall and Arenas to mesh is a question that will be asked all season, but it hasn't been a concern for them. "It's not a big deal for us. He's trying to help us win. I don't think it's a challenge at all. Gil can score in various ways," Wall said. "I think he's getting his rhythm back. He feels he needs to start driving more, that's going to get him to get his legs back underneath and get him used to playing with us again."

  9. They don't win without Robertson. I never said that he was the most dominant player. The Bucks dominate the next two years (but fail to win the championship.) Then Oscar retires and with Kareem still on the team, in his prime, the Bucks finish in last place.

I think my point still stands. You take away Oscar from that team, Kareem doesn't win the title with the Bucks. You take away Magic from the Lakers, Kareem doesn't win titles there. Who do you take away from Jordan that would've prevented him from winning a title?

Believe it or not, Scottie Pippen. :)

  10. You need big men.

And have for a decade it seems.

You need a big guy that can get you 18 and 10.

A more versatile player like Odom or Dirk at that size would be ideal. But unlikely since the other teams won't likely let those guys go easily.

I actually think Blatche will develop into a "18 and 10 guy".

Now what we do need is presence in the middle.

McGee is incredibly athletic but he's not physical enough. At least not now.

Ideally, he'd be the perfect center to run with the second unit.

  11. Moe Williams just owns us. If he played us 82x a year he'd be the greatest player of all-time.

No but really, this is a young team that is going to lose and lose a lot. I think we would have been better off letting Flip go and getting a young HC that can grow with these guys. Flip is better suited coaching veteran teams. I don't know if Sam I Am is the answer just yet though, I'd prefer he develop a bit more on the bench. We should have gone after someone like Brian Shaw.
