Howell looked great.
Ron and Del Rio and Ron's cronies will be gone at year's end.
It's all I can hope for.

I'm hoping that Brandon Staley gets canned this offseason and he is looking for a DC job, because that would be amazing for us.
Um, I live in LA and Staley's D has been a disaster this year and has underachieved for most of his tenure. He gives a good press conference -- other than that, it's been Del Rio like.

Get a GM, Schwartz as HC, convince Eric B to stay on.
-
The D always starts off slow under Del Rio and Ron.
Nothing has changed except Eric B.
I'm sure Harris has seen enough no matter how this season turns out.

If you aren't excited about Sam Howell you have some narrative in your head you refuse to change.

Bill B is basically Ron Rivera -- if not worse -- without Brady.
The Tampa Super Bowl was SO telling.

He's a baller who will keep getting better.
We should be thrilled.

The NFL is such a week to week league narratively -- it's hilarious.
After two weeks, the media -- and us -- were all like WASHINGTON HAS THEIR GUY.
Then last week happens and just like that, the national media has written Howell off.
If nothing else, Howell shows why QBS not drafted high have it so much harder. They don't get nearly the same amount of patience, which only puts them under more pressure. Howell has played four games. At times he has looked fantastic, at other times he has looked far from it.
Barring injury or more games like Buffalo, I think Standig is right. This season is about Howell. Don't make him play tight by saying his leash is short.
If Ron goes to Jacoby, he might as well resign no matter what happens after the switch. He'll have admitted he can't pick a QB to save his life. Why would you give him another shot at it?

Carolina may have whiffed on QB and coach.

Carr is a loser.

Starters wise, taking everything in consideration (including salary) I’d take these guys right now over Howell… if you include future prognostications this list shortens. But right now:Jalen Hurts
Patrick Mahomes
Justin Herbert
Tua
Joe Burrow
Aaron Rodgers (pre Achilles)
Josh Allen
Trevor Lawrence
Guys who is listen to an argument for but you’d need to sell me.
Jordan Love
Bryce Young
CJ Stroud
Anthony Richardson
Derek Carr
Lamar Jackson (not in this offense, with a different OC he may be up in the first group)
It's so early it's almost meaningless, but CJ has shown he can sling it.
Carr always looks like he is going to cry. And dude definitely spends too much time thinking how he is going to look before a game: long sleeve on one arm, oils up his arms on the other -- really short sleeve.
Bryce is so tiny it has to scare Carolina fans.

Young is so small.
And not crazy fast, doesn't have elite arm strength.
Seems like great kid, but early returns are worrisome.
Just doesn't look the part.
We'll see how this post ages!

From a good source --
Chase and his agent are being cautious because he is a FA. They don't want him to get hurt before he gets paid.
Meaning Chase is driving this delay not the team.

Speaking of undersized, I loved Bryce Young in college, but watching him in week 1.... both of his picks were 100 percent because he is short.

He's played two games -- one was somewhat meaningless and one was week 1 of the NFL, when even veteran players are adjusting to the speed of the game.
The expectations are insane. Almost no young QBs have been anything but up and down in their rookie years.
Personally, I loved what I saw. His ability -- and willingness -- to drive the ball downfield is rare for young QBs. And his ability to bounce back from bad plays. And there are going to be a lot of bad plays because of his inexperience.
I really hope Ron -- and Harris -- have more patience with Sam than the fanbase and media.

I feel like fans -- and it makes sense -- focus on their team while ignoring all bad offensive line play is around the league.
We are no better or worse than most of the teams in the league when it comes to o-line play.
And my God, Howell just played his first meaningful game and fans are already worried about him. One of the reasons guys who aren't drafted in the first round rarely succeed is they don't get a real chance. The narrative is they must not be that good or they would have been taken higher. So if they don't play very well right away, they get cast off quick. And almost no young quarterbacks play at a high or even just good level week in and week out. So it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I watched all the games on shortcuts this week -- long flight, I had the time and wi-fi.
Howell looked more than okay compared to a lot of the other young QBs in the league outside of Purdy.

Tough place to win on the road.
Howell is basically a rookie -- seems many have already forgot that.
BUT I still like our chances this week.
And it should be personal for Ron. Payton was openly talking about taking his job.

The Jets line is worse than our line.
In fact, our line is probably average if you watch other games -- there seem to be about five good lines period.
-
Get that third and don't look back.
Also it would mean the fans might relax when Howell is up and down like all rookie QBs are instead of holding him to a crazy high standard and screaming for Jacoby. If you want to see what Howell can be, you have to roll with the mistakes.

If Howell doesn't look the part this year, Ron is gone.
It's that simple.
Why would Harris give him ANOTHER shot to miss at finding a QB?

Should absolutely trade Jacoby if we get a good offer. This season is primarily about finding out if Howell is the guy. If Ron ends up playing Jacoby barring injury, he's fired.

Carson Wentz is still out there, Jets fans.

The Jets offensive line appeared to not be on the field in that series .

He's basically a rookie being asked to do more than pretty much any QB in the league when it comes to number of drop backs. I'll cut him some slack.
