  1. The fight night was very good. All my picks won. Johnson will start moving up the WW ladder now, and I think he will start getting higher profile fights. He should be 8-1 if it weren't for the eye gouging controversy. Cain V. is a beast, but he still needs a few lower tiered fights under his belt.
  2. I don't know who to choose for this fight coming up. Both have a good shot at winning. Both are at the top of their game right now too. This is one of those too awesome to call fights. I like GSP, but I'm going to be rooting for Penn. People who think GSP will take him down easily never saw the 2nd Penn/Hughes fight, where Penn stopped many attempts by Hughes. Both have good standup, and both have good (but very different) ground game. Should make for a very good fight.
  3. Yeah, it was. It was a very good fight though. Varner really knows how to avoid those subs and has very good GnP. I don't know if I would have scored it 49-46. I thought it was closer to 3 rounds to 2 either way. Hope these two have a rematch cause that was a great fight.
  4. Me either. I thought both did very good. I'm glad we didn't have to see bader's "lay on top of you for the whole fight" style, but I expect he didn't want to hit the ground against Vinny. All the fights were pretty good too, even the browning fight. He looked much better than on the show. He's still a punk though, lol. It was really nice to see Anthony Johnson get his revenge in a great way. Awesome kick.
  5. I liked all the fights tonight. Started off good, and ended with a bang. Not sure why that dude didn't tap, was pretty dumb because that probably put him off of any cards for at least 6 months. Overall 4.5/5 for me (only losing a half a point for the boo's from the crowd when fighters were on the ground).
  6. I just watched the fight. Made sure I didn't read anything about it. Found out my DVR only taped from 9-10, so I missed the Pulver fight. I knew Mike Brown would be tough for Faber but he really took it to him. And yeah, a little too wild out there with the elbow and a perfect punch by Brown put him down. Good stuff, can't wait for a rematch. Faber will probably tone it down a bit in that fight.
  7. http://sports.espn.go.com/extra/mma/news/story?id=3679345 So WEC is dropping it's top two weight classes now. Do you think Filho will get moved into UFC? Are any of the LHW worth moving over?
  8. yeah, that does blow. Silva was clearly winning, but to blow out your knee like that sucks. It'll be a year before he comes back. I wonder if they'll give him a title shot right away?
  9. It really was brutal. Werdum may have been looking ahead. We'll see how Dos plays out after a couple more fights.
  10. good first fight. Would have liked to see one of them get finished, but it was very good either way.
  11. RIP Evan. You were a great fighter and will be missed in the sport.
  12. I swear I read yesterday that Juanito has already resigned with Rampage. I was never a Rampage fan, but I have respect for him. I would much rather watch a good ground fight with a sub myself (the maia vs. macdonald fight was my favorite from the last card).
  13. I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this. I was watching a WEC Wreckage I had DVR'd last night, and there was a pretty good bantamweight fight on with some excellent ground fighting on it, and in the middle of it the crowd start booing becuase there is no "action" I don't know about you guys, but every time that happens, even in slow fights, it pisses me off. I understand that knockouts are exciting, but to me, the best part of MMA is the technical ground fights. The passes and counters until one of them makes a mistake and gets subbed or mounted and pounded out. It seems that if they don't throw a punch within a 10 second period, people get restless and start booing. This is embarrassing to me for the fighters, and the sport, and makes us look like profesional wrestling fans (I have no problems with pro wrestling, but you're supposed to boo in that, it's part of the entertainment). There are a few exceptions though, like the Kalib Starnes-Nate Quarry fight, where starnes was literally ducking Quarry. I probably would have booed Starnes too.
  14. Yeah, he did look pretty big in that fight. Should be good though, unless the weight cut hurts him. I'd Love to see a cro-cop knockout kick from him (even if it's the gonzaga kind, lol).
  15. I would, but I like all of those too, lol. I love Ken Flo. I don't see heath out punching Lesnar, and as much as I like Fitch, GSP should win.
  16. I agree, I think it'll be a good match up. I'm not too keen on either fighter, but it should be fun to watch.
  17. I agree with this too. He needs to learn to throw kicks and his ground game is almost non-existent other than laying on top and throwing random punches in guard (I hate that about wrestlers, takes them a long time to learn to pass guard and get favorable position). He beat Cantwell last time with a good punch, and didn't get it this time.
  18. The condit fight was so good. Those Judo throws were awesome. I thought Miura had it there for a bit, but Condit would do something at the last minute to keep the fight going. Great knee though, right to the side of his head. Thought the whole card was good. Was hoping Stann would win, but he gassed too quickly.
  19. This was the only game I went to last year. I still remember my buddy and I on the concorse at halftime with huge grins talking about how we were gonna be 3-0 and in control of the division. Not a word was spoke on the way home...was a sad sad day.
