  1. Lol, a pause or hesitation might be a better way to describe. It's weird.

You need to be fluid with your shot. Straight up, as you're still going up and set to hit the peak (NOT stop at the peak of your jump and then shoot it), follow through, middle finger putted at the center of the basket, aim for the back of the rim, so on and so forth. MKG is just all sorts of ****ed up.

It's almost like he is shooting when he starts coming down from the peak of his jump.

  2. Definitely not true for shooting guards. PG is arguably the most individually important position on the floor.

Today, what teams are good without good PG play? Only Miami really, and they have two top five players who both run the point.

Look at the past 20 NBA championships and list the key players to each. How many key players were PGs compared to shooting guards? In fact, how many teams in which the point guard was the best player on that team have won an NBA title.

Maybe Wall will be a superstar, but he might also leave in a couple of years. If given the chance to trade straight up Wall for Davis, I would take Davis.

Today, what teams are good without good PG play? Only Miami really, and they have two top five players who both run the point.

Teams in the Eastern conference playoffs without an Elite PG: Miami, Indiana, Atlanta, Orlando, New York, Philadelpia

Teams in the West playoffs without an Elite PG: Lakers, Memphis, Dallas, Denver and Houston (Denver and Houston have good point guards to be sure, but certainly not elite)

  3. Here's a hypothetical from the Wizards post-game show: Would you absolutely rule out trading John Wall for a very high lottery pick?

I would definitely do it for the number one pick if Davis comes out because dominant point guards, who are the best player on their team, generally don't win NBA championships. Not that a PG can't play a huge role, but big men and shooting guards are more important than PGs.

  4. I think you are being overly optimistic. That team doesn't wow me. It has potential though I will give you that.

Anthony Davis is JaVale McGee 2.0 to me. I hope we don't get him. I don't like Sullinger very much either. He'll contribute and be a solid NBA player like a la Big Baby, but he won't be the dominant forward we need.

How is Anthony Davis a JaVale McGee 2.0?? Dude was a point guard in high school so he has good ball skills and a decent outside shot.

  5. Anthony Davis = beast mode tonight. Cruised to a win, 16 points, 9 rebounds, 7 blocks. 3 assists, 1 steal, 5/8 from field and 6/8 from the line.

Perry Jones = meh, invisible on the offensive end with only 2 points but he did get 11 rebounds. The difference in his quality versus Davis' is tremendous.

Uconn is getting worked. Drummond has 2 points and 3 rebounds. Lamb has 13 points on 4 of 11 shooting. Losers.

Sully isn't shooting well tonight but he still has 12 points and 6 rebounds and Ohio State is firmly in control right now at the half.

Did you see the end of the Uconn game? Lamb completely pulled a McGee. I really hope we don't get him.

  6. Davis is the #1 pick for sure it don't matter what team gets it. He is gonna be a dominant bigman and alot of people think he is better then Dwight Howard was at his age. He was actually a guard who had a huge growth spurt. He can handle the ball for a big but I have'nt seen enough of Kentucky to see if he is sticking the Jumper. But either way defensively he is a monster.

So if we have the #1 pick:

Do we take Davis and look to sign and trade McGee.

Do we trade down a few spots?

Do we draft someone else #1?

  7. Well, the Caps won a couple in a row so I guess all the gloom and doom is in the Wizards thread. Seriously, what did anyone expect with this team? This is a team that had exactly one quality shooter and no legit post presence last year and they added no quality shooters (don't say Roger Mason) and no legit post players in free agency or the draft.

Now I'm not saying Wall isn't deserving of some criticism but what exactly is Wall to do? Seriously, he can't run a pick n roll with anyone on this team. Even if he did a better job of driving and kicking out, this teams throws up so many bricks that his assists won't start adding up.

This team desperately needed a preseason and more practice throughout the season which will be limited because of the condensed schedule. After this ten win season, the Wiz will hopefully get the number one pick again and shed some of the dead weight in the starting lineup (Lewis and Blatche) with a new GM and head coach.

  8. And this whole "ring generalship" or whatever. This is boxing not street fighting. Just because one guy is moving forward and one guy is moving backwards, it doesn't mean he is "dominating the ring" JMM was there to counter punch. To get in and out. Take a step back, make Pac miss and counter. It was working, it worked.

For the first six rounds or so, Manny was lunging and over reaching and missing most of his shots, while being counter punched. ATTEMPTING 10000 punches doesn't matter. Landing them is the name of the game.

Not sure how ANYONE could have not had it 4-2 for JMM after 6, then after that the rounds got close, you could argue a split 3-3. 7-5 JMM. JMM wins.

I would have settled for a draw, or possibly a split decision, but 116-112 is a joke.

    .

You don't have to like it, but ring generalship, aggression, controlling the tempo of the fight are all used to score fights. It's not just punches landed. Counter punchers often get nicked for their pension to let someone keep coming at them.

On another note, a lot of the scorers I followed had Manny up early 3 rounds to 1.

  9. BS. One guy can not as a PRO see it as a draw and the guy seated next to him sees 4 rounds completely different.

Who cares what the odds makers say.

Watching the fight Pac pretty much didn't control anything. The crowd booed Manny for heavens sake. He was controlled and it was evident. Sucks because I love boxing, but that is garbage.

It's actually only 2 rounds difference. If there were two very close rounds and he scored them for pac by a razor thin margin, that's makes it 8-4 vs. 6-6

  10. How much would you all be willing to spend to keep NY then?

Depends on what happens with the lock out. If the amnesty clause is included the new CBA and it frees the cap space of Rashard Lewis' contract, maybe I pay a little more on a shorter contract. That still gives the Wiz massive cap space.

I am really hoping for the Amnesty Clause even if it helps out Orlando a lot too. It would give the Wiz a chance to add a young all-star and veteran role players to become a contender soon than later.

  11. The Nick Young hate really boggles my mind. He was quite literally our only good offensive option last year, and yet he managed to have good efficiency numbers across the board. And this is your supposed "chucker", "black hole", "awful teammate".

He does everything you want your complimentary SG to do. He's an excellent three point shooter, he knows how to work around multiple screens, and he can catch and shoot. Big ****ing deal he can't pass. That's why we drafted a PG #1 overall. Anyone who says his defensive sucks hasn't watched a Wizards game in the last two years. He's not a great defender, but he's by far better than anyone on the roster in terms of fighting through screens and contesting shots. On almost any given night last year, he managed to match his counterparts production, or do better.

How about the fact that he brings his A game against superstars? He seems to have huge games against the leagues best and shines in those moments.

Jordan Crawford will be a very good player himself. But there is no ****ing way I let Nick Young walk in FA unless some desperate team is giving up 7 million a season. He's as good as any complimentary SG in the league.

I will take this one step further. I have seen so much love for the Wizards draft, but this team doesn't have any shooters outside of Nick Young. As it currently stands, we will definitely be back in the top 10 of the lottery because teams will pack the paint and force this team to shoot bricks from the outside. Being athletic on the fast break is great, but it only amounts to a fraction of the points needed to win a game.

  12. If the Wiz front office believes Williams is going to be a star or a regular all-star but not elite, you trade McGhee and the 6th pick for the No. 2 and grab him. That would give you two potential stars to build around in Wall and Williams. Who here thinks McGhee is going to be an all-star for years? I'm not saying I don't like McGhee and what he brings, but I make the deal to get Williams.

  13. That is a load, the fight was anything but boring, it was frustrating as a Pavlik fan for much of the beginning until Kelly started to get his timing right. Once the second cut happened it took his vision but more importantly it took his heart. Gatti as they referenced would of put everything into his punches when he through and wouldn't of just sat there trying to jab. Albeit I don't believe Gatti ever favored a jab anyhow the point was he had a new problem that was never dealt with in the past and he was clearly lost personally. The trainer Lowe told him to let his hands go but Kelly was shot at that point, more of a lets protect myself from this point forward rather than lets try and get the win.

Also, Kelly needs to fire his cut-man, what a lousy job in the corner for so many rounds. You get what you pay for.

I'm not a Pavlik fan so there was no frustration other than I prefer fights in which the fighters go toe to toe a little bit. It's one reason I don't waste time watching any Mayweather fights.
