skinzplay
We have John Parry and his guys this week for the Jets game. He and Dan Ferrell (the umpire) make a lot of holding calls, though usually against the visiting team. Trent will need to grab a release very quickly if he's going to hold like he normally does. These guys will call it every time. An interesting game to watch will be the one between the Giants and Packers. The "wrecking crew" (Jeff Triplette and his band of merry gentlemen) will be working that game. This will be a very, very interesting game to watch. If anything can neutralize the Packers attack.......
Champskins
Giants and Packers is a whole lot less interesting this week.... Packers are making it look like they are playing college teams and Eli Manning is choking... Lets hope these zebras are watching the holds on Rak
skinzplay
One of the reasons Orakpo doesn't get the holding calls is that, before every game, the opposing coaches approach the officials and tell them that Orakpo is "overselling" the hold. In effect, they're conditioning what the striped shirts see before they see it. And the memory of that holding penalty against Dallas in week 1 last year is still fresh in the minds of most officials. It was a hold, yes.....but unlike Tony Corrente, most other officials would not have made that call at the end of a game, especially in that situation. But regardless, it was definitely a hold. Champskins
its actually the opposite... Orakpo doesnt sell the hold hard enough... he needs to be up in the zebras face and expressing it.. he usually just sets back up for the next play, humbled. As for your first statement about the coaches, the zebras don't give a damn what the coaches say and they certainly would not take it in to consideration on that bias. I was about to say the same thing. Orakpo isn't acting like he is getting hold, so they aint calling them. But everybody and their blind mother could see that he is getting held, hugged, spooned, etc.....
skinzplay
Oh, some do care and some do listen. They shouldn't, and it shouldn't affect the way they call games. Unfortunately, there are definitely some who are quite easily influenced. Watch the Texans-Falcons game and see how easy the line judges can be worked into calling neutral zone infractions and motion penalties.
Champskins
Rak was a lot better when he started in the dirt... being lower to the ground gave him the ability to slide under the Tackle and his burst got him through the line/around the line before contact could be made. His feet are a lot faster than big for left tackles
