How bad would it be if we didn't sign any starters but depth?

Looking at the the free agents out there for wide receiver, no one really excites me. In fact I'm not crazy about any free agent. The draft could address our needs but it would take awhile for the production to come around. I think that we could make it back to the playoffs and maybe to the super bowl with the same players and a few small additions. My reason, look at our coaches. Our biggest signing is Saunders and trust me, that's huge. We're buliding on chemistry and character. Signing a big shot wide receiver or trading away ramsey or arrington for a draft pick isn't worth it to me. Any thoughts?

We need another receiver or we will not advance any further than round 2. Tampa, Dallas, and Philly will all be better next year. Good defenses can expose our offense by containing Santana; he needs help.

Probably better than if we signed just starters and no depth. But we still need a #2 WR in the WORST way.

I think our 2 most desperate needs are WR and DE. We badly need a pass rushing DE. I hope Patten will be healthy again and that will help quite a bit. But we still need someone else who can really push the defense and be a bigger threat.

The thing is, theres players out there who are better than what we have, i mean would you take Taylor Jacobs or Eric Moulds?? Randle El or James Thrash. Why not add to our team if we can??

Good first post and some good points also. But I am assuming that you are primarily speaking of the offense. Because it would be absolutely crimminal if we didn't at least attempt to sign a FA/whatever as a starter at the DE position.
