Redskin's Super Bowl Memories

This being Super Bowl Weekend let us relieve the Redskin Super Bowl Championship Days! Here are my most memorable moments for each Super Bowl Win!

Super Bowl XVII: Joe Theisman having a pass deflected and knocking it out of the reach of Kim Bokamper to prevent a Miami TD! It Joe did not make that play could have ended the Redskins chance for a Super Bowl Title the Score was 17-13 Miami and if Bokamper would have caught the pass the score would have been 24-13 going into the 4th and the Redskins would have had to abandon Riggins and the running game. Redskins 27 Dolphins 17

Super Bowl XXII: Doug Williams 80 yard TD pass to Ricky Sanders on the Redskin’s fist offensive play of the second quarter! After getting their butts kick in the fist quarter this play helped ignited the most explosive quarter in Super Bowl history as the Redskins scored a Super Bowl Record 35 points in one quarter. Redskins 42 Broncos 10

Super Bowl XXVI: The first play of the second half Kurt Gouveia intercepted a Jim Kelly Pass an returned it to the 1 yard line setting up a Gerald Riggs TD run. If you remember Buffalo had a small rally going in that game. Buffalo pulled the score to 24-10 and now that TD looked big. At the end of the Game the Bill also scored 2 meaningless TDs. If Gouveia did not help set up that TD at the beginning of the second half Buffalo might have rallied back (highly unlikely) with their hyper drive no huddle offense. Redskins 37 Bills 24

That is my trip down Redskins Super Bowl Memory Lane. Let me know what you guys think and please add your own Super Bowl Memories!

Hi fuji,

In my drunken stupor , I started a nostalgia thread, too. Not just SB's but any significant plays. Apologies.

I liked the Sanders 80 yarder, too. I think I elevated appproximately 8.5" on that one. My all-time record.

[ February 01, 2002: Message edited by: RedskinFan4Life ]

Super Bowl 41 (would that be XLI?): LaVar Arrington picks off a Peyton Manning pass and returns it 37 yards for a TD, leading the Redskins to a 27-16 victory over the Colts in the big game played at FedEx Field (see today's Post for this subject revisited). This is the second SB title of the Steve Spurrier era in Washington.

Hey, I can dream, right?
