bulldog Posted April 21, 2002 Share Posted April 21, 2002 I think the Redskins have it in mind to sign a veteran guard after the draft to start on the left side. In that regard, the team was probably never looking to add a player on the OL on Day 1. Likewise after the Wynn signing the Skins shied away from grabbing a DT. Haynesworth and Bryant fell further than expected due to the Freeney and Levi Jones picks. The opening to move up a few spots and secure a blue chip DT was there. The Redskins weren't interested. They also weren't interested in taking Lelie, Gaffney, Bryant or Reed at WR. So instead we grabbed the #3 rated quarterback in a weak draft class and then drafted a back in round 2 likewise in a draft that was shallow on talent at that spot.
