bulldog
there is no reason to conclude voting for the pro bowl while the season is still going on. the all-star game is not held until February. the early vote hurts players that are end of year finishers and helps players that did well the first 8-10 games but are fading coming down the stretch. at one point, Ahman Green had a 400 yard lead over Davis in the NFC but Davis has been more productive the last 6 or 7 weeks of the season. mardi gras skin
Davis is the most deserving player to be snubbed. His production this year is amazing considering that the first three games there was no continuity along the line.
redman
And there's NEVER been a passing game to speak of that would have taken the focus of opposing defenses off of him this year. The guy's been incredible. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. indyskinsfan
That's because of the clear and present bias. We are forced to listen to lying commentators (that's all Chris Collingsworth really is), make misleading and "reckless" so-called Professional football authoritative statements like, "Garrison Hearst's is the leading rusher in the NFC". He is getting the excited late season fans that jump on the party and team bandwagon, to believe these statements and assessments by the "board" members of the FOX NFL Sunday games. He and others like him the position of high profile, even the other players, select "safe" names, because frankly, they don't know what the selection criteria really is. Then there's influence by the media or if you prefer, marketing influence and hype mojos who work their network affiliate VOODOO for the market analysis. This is the crew that comes up with (Army Marching Drums Please), the "Patriotic Duty, to SQUASH, STAMP OUT and ERADICATE ANY RECESSION, and to do what is necessary to keep our economy moving, by using false and misleading statements to influence market fluctuation for the positive line on the EXCEL bar and keep America strong. We will not and must not allow those of lessor names or using what bandwagoneers call boring, stupid stats to prove their points, so now we must pick our players just before the end of the season, so we may have positive market fluctuation! These are the behind the scenes powers that say we should like Curtis Martin more, than say, Ladanien Tomilinson, so the image of Martin and his Jets, with his battles is shown on the screen more than Tomlinson. The only market area this not done in is San Diego, because the averages are that most will not venture far enough or care enough to know what is being done behind the scenes. AW yes, the ENEMY WITHIN!
redman
It's too convenient to make the media the whipping boy in this. Yes, there are elements that don't like the Redskins and throw punches at them that they would pull with other teams. Part of that is deserved (Snyder), part of that comes from being one of the more prestigious teams in the league, and part of it comes from simply bad/biased journalism. So be it. The simple fact is that if we had won the division and/or made the playoffs, we wouldn't be having this conversation because Davis would be in the Pro Bowl. ------------------ "Loosen up, Sandy baby. TennesseeCarl
It wouldn't matter when the selection was made. They ain't gonna pick Stephen Davis. Maybe he's too 'vanilla' in terms of his dealings with the media. Maybe it's a vicarious slap at Snyder and the Redskins. The media likes Arrington. I suspect they'll like Smoot. But there are introverts in the league that just aren't going to be media favorites. That's my opinion, for whatever it's worth.
bulldog
well, they picked Davis the past 2 seasons with 1,400 and 1,300 yards rushing so was it that unrealistic to think he would make it this year with over 1,400 again? the argument over 'introverts' getting snubbed would be more believable if a guy like Chris Samuels who is very soft-spoken and never makes statements to the media didn't also make the pro bowl team. certainly, Arrington and Samuels are polar opposites in terms of personality.
