One hundred, fifty-one football games.

De La Salle High School lost 39-20 Bellevue (Wash.), ending the Spartans' record high school winning streak Saturday night in Seattle.

The Spartans, who hail from Concord, Calif., a suburban community east of San Francisco, had not lost since Dec. 7, 1991.

Their average victory was by 38.2 points, and 43 of their 151 wins were shutouts during their 151. De La Salle also was crowned with five USA Today national championships during the span. Coach Bob Ladouceur has now lost a total of 15 games in his 26-year career.

The streak included games against highly touted opponents, including Long Beach (Calif.) Poly. The inevitable loss for De La Salle came at the hands of the three-time defending Washington state 3A champions at the Emerald City Kickoff Classic at Qwest Field.

De La Salle alumni in the NFL include Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer, Broncos 2004 first-round draft pick D.J. Williams, Lions guard David Loverne and Jets kicker Doug Brien.

UCLA spark-plug running back Maurice Drew also starred at De La Salle, and Michigan starting quarterback Matt Gutierrez was a Spartan.

Bay Area papers had speculated about the Spartans' chances of escaping this season unscathed. In addition to Bellevue, the team also has games scheduled against strong California teams from Mission Viejo, Clovis West and Palma.
