Blondie
(Again..........I can't post the entire article as it is a paid site and I respect their request not to post all of it.) Best battle: For backup running back, behind Clinton Portis. It would appear Ladell Betts is the No. 2 guy, as long as he's healthy. But then what do you do? Me? I take John Simon because he offers a more versatile package, with his ability to catch passes out of the backfield. He's also been working more with the first-team coverage units (Rock Cartwright also is on first-team kick coverage). Sultan McCullough offers speed, but Trung Canidate proved last year that speed is low on the list of what makes a special back. Cartwright's toughness can not be understated. I wonder if there's room for both Simon and Cartwright. *********************** Just a few more days and this battle will be won or lost.......depending on who you want. Canadian Hog
I recall Coach Gibbs stating on numerous occassions that if a guy can play special teams, he's going to have a very good opportunity to make our final roster. If it comes down to a decision where the staff has to choose between Simon and Cartwright, their ability on special teams units might be the difference maker. Because in terms of ability as a rusher, I don't know how much you can differentiate between Simon and Rock.
