bubba9497
Training-camp reports Aug. 23, 2004 On thin ice: The Redskins are carrying a bunch of tight ends right now, and as much as Joe Gibbs likes to use multiple-TE formations, Robert Royal might not make the squad. Rookie Chris Cooley has been impressive thus far, and Brian Kozlowski and Walter Rasby have enough left to make Gibbs feel comfortable with his troops. Also, WR Cliff Russell might not have enough time to show he can be one of the five best receivers on the roster. Keep an eye on: MLB Kevin Mitchell has managed to last as long as he has in the league (11 years) by being a dependable backup and strong special-teams performer, but he might have to fill in for banged-up starter Mike Barrow. Mitchell probably is not good for long stretches, but he could be asked to play a significant role in the defense for spells here and there.
