The Go-Gos are the first all female rock band to hit #1 and they were 100% legit as players and writers.  Massively influential in a way that Benatar can’t quite match.  Even though LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD ISTHE GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME.

- Then the album should be honored for that milestone...they did practically nothing after that.

- Who did the Go-Gos influence musically?

Beauty and the Beat and Vacation are excellent albums. 🤷‍♂️

Pretty much every pop punk band that followed them. 🤭

Beauty and the Beat I'll give you...Vacation was nowhere near as good.

And Fanny influenced just as many bands after the Bangles, and were the first all-girl band to release an album on a major label. Fans don't know who they are, though, because unlike the Bangles, there was no MTV around to do PR for them for the masses.

“They were one of the finest ****ing rock bands of their time, in about 1973. They were extraordinary: they wrote everything, they played like mother****ers, they were just colossal and wonderful, and nobody’s ever mentioned them. They’re as important as anybody else who’s ever been, ever; it just wasn’t their time.”  - David Bowie

When they released a reunion album, members of the Runaways, the Go-Gos, and the Bangles appeared on the record. Their cover of Marvin Gaye's "Ain't That Peculiar" is excellent.

Put them in before the Bangles.
