The next 4 game season starts Week 6

Let's get rid of the thought of reflecting over the last 4. Let's prevent our multiplying the 3-1 record by 4 to come up with a silly end of season record. The season can be broken down into 4 quarters, and we are on the 2nd. Let's win the 2nd quarter. The only thing we should be looking at are tendencies from the past 4 games. But this quarter we are 0-0.

Week 6 - Redskins vs Eagles

Redskins coming off a bye week after 2 road games, they should be hungry to compete at home again. The Eagles are heading up to Buffalo before traveling to Washington in week 6. They very well could be 1-4 and losing momentum while dealing with pressure internally and from the media. The Redskins know how much winning the offseason can blow up in their face, and how it impacts individuals on the field and in the locker room.

Week 7 - Redskins @ Panthers

Cam Newton can pass. The Redskins Defense is improved, but their secondary can get beaten if the QB creates time for himself. Cam has proven that he can create time. This is a dangerous game. The Panthers would have just traveled to Atlanta in week 6.

Week 8 - Redskins @ Bills

Another very tough road game here, the Bills are passing the ball around with the best in the league. This game will be in Toronto, too. I'm not sure if that favors the Bills as much as it would if they played in Buffalo. The Redskins will be playing a third team in a row that passes more than runs, and this could be exhausting. The Bills will also be coming off a bye, which very much favors them.

Week 9 - Redskins vs 49ers

Hosting a San Francisco team who earlier in the season went to the Eagles house and beat them. If that doesn't inspire confidence that they can come East and win, what will? As much of a Homer as I am, the Eagles have a much better home field advantage than the Redskins at Fed Ex. This is a setup game, having traveled twice in the past 2 weeks and coming home to welcome the 49ers.

These 4 games will be telling. If we want to be considered a strong team in this league, we really need to have strong showings against the 49ers and Panthers. Those two teams should be drafting in the top 10, though the 49ers might have a slightly better record based on their weak division. Luckily the Eagles are visiting us, and are in a big slump. This is another one of those games that we need to win, in order to prove something.

If we can muster out a 3-1 record from these 4 games, then this quarter is a big victory. If we manage to go 2-2 then that is mediocre, and we have a long season left without a bye week. I don't want to think about winning 0 or 1 games. Our schedule is much harder in the 2nd half of the season, so we really need 2 or 3 wins in this quarter.
