Mark The Homer Posted February 22, 2011 Share Posted February 22, 2011 For Immediate Release February 22, 2011 REDSKINS READ FOOTBALL FIVE WRITING CONTEST The Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation and the Redskins Kids Club are hosting a writing contest for first through sixth grade students. The Redskins Read Football Five Writing Contest will run from March 1 – March 31, 2011. Contest winners will be announced the week of May 2 in conjunction with Children’s Book Week. Students will create and write a one page story about the Washington Redskins that includes the following five words – COMMUNITY, UMBRELLA, GOLD, JUMP ROPE, and SPOON. All entries will be divided into two judging brackets by grade (1st – 3rd graders and 4th – 6th graders). Students in first, second and third grade will be judged based on creativity, effort, presentation, and usage of the five words. Students in fourth, five and sixth grade will be judged on creativity, grammar, paragraph format, presentation, and usage of the five words. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded for each grade group bracket as follows: · First Prize: a Washington Redskins team signed authentic helmet · Second Prize: a limited edition laser-engraved football · Third Prize: a deluxe Washington Redskins fan pack In addition, all participants will be entered into a random drawing to receive a free one-year Redskins Kids Club membership with one winner selected from each grade. Winning stories will be posted on the Redskins Kids Club website (www.redskinskidsclub.com).
