A vision from our past to our present.

Hey fellow ES'ers. This board seems to be way more optimistic then it was or has been these past few weeks, but we're not how we were after week 1 of this season :gaintsuck. Usually posts like these would come when the sky is falling to attempt to even it out, this is not the case. What better time to post this then now after our latest transaction, and here it goes! Travel with me to the past few years and let's review ourselves through our own eyes back then to understand how we are in such a grateful position. I didn't imagine we could be here a few years back.

Please, when you read this, listen to it in a NFL Netork presentation voice. You know, the deep NFL voice. Sounds like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjFykxKHqw4

[December 2005]: It's over. They beat the Eagles, and they're in the Playoffs. After coach Joe Gibbs takes the team on a win streak ride, chants can be heard shouting "5 in a row or we don't go".

[January 2006]: It's over. They beat Tampa and have a disapointing loss to a team they had already defeated earlier that season.

[Off-season 2006]: The Redskins stack their team. After losing players such as Walt Harris, Ryan Clark, and LaVar Arrington they were replaced with expensive free agent signing Adam Archuletta and Kenny Wright. LaVar was replaced by upcoming prospect Chris Clemons and veteran Warrick Holdman, and the Redskins traded up in the draft to select OLB Rocky McIntosh. The additions of Andre Carter at DE sures up the position and adds the pass rush we always needed.

Enter Al Saunders, the offensive genius. Jason Campbell is warming the bench up nicely as Redskins QB Mark Brunell will take full helm this season and will approach the mid 3,500 yard mark. His wide recieving corp is stacked with off-season additions of possesion reciever Brandon Lloyd and dual threat Antwaan Randle El. Santana Moss and Chris Cooley are back and should be more explosive with a spread out offense. Clinton Portis is out seeking revenge this year.

[Pre-season 2006]: Terror strikes the fans of the 202 as Clinton Portis gave up a solid hit on the interceptor. Not only did the Redskins lose possesion of the ball, but they lost possesion of the best possesion they owned, Clinton Portis.

The Redskins would go on to an 0-4 pre-season record and a humiliating defeat against the New England Patriots. Coach Joe Gibbs once coached such an 0-4 team and took it to the Bowl', this seemed to place some fans at ease.

[september 2006]: The Redskins are to host the very first ESPN Monday Night Football game at home agasint the Vikings. Fedex Field was a sight that night as fans packed it to the brim. Coming off a 10-6 season, this city was hungry for a superior team, and they upgraded it extensively in the off-season.

The Redskins would lose backup saftey Pierson Prielou for the season on the very first play of the game. He was listed as a backup, but he was meant to be used as the coverage saftey as free agent Adam Archuletta would play in the box and be a sure tackler to compliment FS Sean Taylor.

Clinton Portis is playing tonight, and he would go on to play many more games this season. Until he broke another piece of his body and would be out for the rest of the 2006 season.

[2006 Season]: Enter backup RB Ladell Betts. He picks up for Clinton Portis and is one of the only bright spots beyond young physical QB Jason Campbell. Mark Brunell is benched and this season is done early. Another short year in Washington, for some, one that was too familiar.

[2007 Off-season]: The Redskins dumped what they could which held them down. Big free agent signing Adam Archuletta was traded to the Chicago Bears, and the Redskins would go on to sign free agents MLB London Fletcher and old Redskins veteran CB Fred Smoot to fill holes in their defense as they lost players CB Kenny Wright and MLB Lemar Marshall. They drafted the best defensive player out of College in SS LaRon Landry to fully compliment FS Sean Taylor.

[2007 Season]: The Redskins coached under Joe Gibbs would gain a 9-7 record and make the Playoffs for the second time in three years.

But that 9-7 record is greatly misunderstood. You see the Redskins were greatly plagued by injuries. Not to mention, the death of one of their very own players. Arguably their best player, arguably a future Hall of Famer, arguably, the BeST. Free Saftey Sean Taylor was shot in his own home with his family just yards away. The media plagued his family, friends, and fans of the Redskins, himself, and the NFL with misleading storylines of his condition. Many will never forget the day.

The Redskins were directed under offensive Quarterback Jason Cambell for 12 games. That came to an end as he suffered a dislocated knee cap against the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. Offensive linemen RT Jon Jansen and RG Randy Thomas were already lost for the year. 2nd year stud linebacker Rocky McIntosh was done for the year with 2 torn knee ligaments later in the season, arguably having a pro bowl caliber year. CB Carlos Rogers was out for the year after experiencing the same fate as Rocky to the New England Patriots, and Reed Doughty performed at a solid level as a replacement for LaRon Landry who took over the FS position.

The Redskins would advance to the Playoffs under veteran QB Todd Collins who took the Redskins on a 4 game winning streak after that cold Thursday night in Washington. They lost to an all too familiar opponent in January, and that loss ended their dream season of putting a man at rest. But all was not lost, as their emotion and control over the situation led to intense amount of respect from around the league and men and woman around the world. The 2007 Season may have been lost statistically, but not emotionally. "Gone but not forgotten" - as some would say.

[2008 Pre-season]: After the devasting loss of teamate Sean Taylor and the 2007 season, The Redskins enter the year bring ranked 4th in the NFC East by all standards and colors. This team will start and finish in this position no matter what they say. The compeition is too fierce and they just don't have the personell or heart to compete like they did last year. Especially under Rookie Head Coach Jim Zorn and 3rd year QB Jason Campbell.

The Redskins are running drills on this warm summer day. Jason Campbell and Jim Zorn are talking to one another in the practice field. Another coach is walking by as he hears the words "avoid, reset and throw".

[2008 Season]: The Redskins throw down the ice and then melt it real fast. After defeating rivals Dallas and the Eagles in regular season matchups the Redskins are hot in the division. With wins agasint the Cardinals, Saints, Browns, and Lions the Redskins are sitting at 6-3 and play the Dallas Cowboys in their second stunt this season, this Sunday Night at 8:15pm.

With a roster complimented by fresh additions of CB DeAngelo Hall, RB Shaun Alexander, and DE Jason Taylor. The team is looking to bring back the health this week as they leave their BYE and fight week 11 fresh. The only problem is, they might be doing so without arguably the best back in the league, Clinton Portis.

And so we begin

A whole new chapter

Let the week unfold

And let the weak unfold

And let the Dallas Cowboys

Get torched by the Burgundy and Gold

HTTR.
