dfos81
Bottom line, a puke coach is suspended for violating a league policy. - :whippin: Just add to the list of distractions facing the pukes opening few games. - :thud: I wonder what the next problem/issue will be next? In the meantime - :munchout: T.O. is just waiting to get his chance to explode, he's gotta be getting tired of hearing about all these other Cowboys in the media before him
MTechnik
Okay... First - he isn't in trouble for failing a urine test. He is in trouble for violating the league's code of conduct. Same thing that would have happened if he got caught gambling on basketball games. It doesn't affect his sport directly, but it's part of the code of conduct - stay away. Second - people have been saying "it's not performance enhancing. He took it to try and combat the effects of his Diabetes." To this I say hooey. Diabetes is affected by stress. That stress affecting his Diabetes will reduce the amount of time he is able to devote to coaching. This kind of management SHOULD be coordinated with his primary care provider, NOT through an Internet Drug Store that gives scrips for regulated substances over the internet without a visit. In the end, he did an end-around of his doctor, who is coordinating his diabetes care. He also broke federal law to get two controlled substances (HGH and anabolic steroids) without a prescription. This was done to increase his quality of life, allowing him to work more (performance-enhancing). So, I endorse that he was fined half of his salary and is suspended for 5 games. My question is, is he allowed to work with Tony during this suspension, or is it just a game-day suspension? (p.s. - I have chronic illnesses requiring occasional prescription steroids. I am vaguely familiar with the situation here.)
BigDFan5
Well then great for him, I still find the excuse a bit lame. He could have always found a doctor to get the script. :2cents: Probably, but like most of us he went the easy route. He got rung up for it so hopefully it wont happen again
BigDFan5
So we are to believe that he decided to self medicate without letting his personal physician know about it? Is he really that stupid? Reading the reports he's had some fairly serious issues with diabetes which means that he is probably on plenty of drugs already and he doesn't think to consult his physician about possible issues with drug interactions and/or side effects? We honestly don't know what he told his physician and never will because of privacy rights. But I doubt he just googled up a pharmacy and decided to do it without doing any kind of research

"I acted without proper medical supervision..." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070901/ap_on_sp_fo_ne/fbn_drug_suspensions The privacy issues also only applies if Wilson wants it to. Well if we believe him about that we have to believe him for everything he said But like I said either way I am sure he done research but it was stupid to do without league approval
dallasfan
The more I hear about this case, the dumber it gets. I read on DC.com that he had a prescription for it. The substance isn't illegal with a prescription, the league has decided that he didn't obtain it to give to players, so imo a 5 game suspension and a 100K dollar fine is a bit much for an assistant coach. If I were him I'd appeal, cause the dollar amount is way too high

dallasfan
What part of "I acted without proper medical supervision..." do you not understand? Maybe because it wasn't his regular doctor, he didn't consider it, "proper medical supervision," but according to this http://www.dallascowboys.com/multimedia_center.cfm?id=D2F89CD9-A415-1085-761AB51CC013326F Jerry said he knew about the situation weeks ago, and Wade thought he went about it right getting a prescription. What I didn't know was banned substances extend to all NFL employees, so does the commish's secretary get drug tested?

What I didn't know was banned substances extend to all NFL employees, so does the commish's secretary get drug tested? The drugs came from a pharmacy, and they were bought with a prescription. He did not see the doctor, as it is a pseudo-doc that has a degree from nowhereville that barely passed the med exam. This doc sells prescriptions for these illicit substances to be sold through the pharmacy that he works for. The investigaion into this illegal practice is what landed the feds at his door. If he had gone to a podiatrist (or other doc that has nothing to do with diabetes) in person and asked for HGH and the 'roids, it would be questionable ethically, but legal. But he didn't see a real doc in person. Even if these substances weren't on the NFL Banned list, there would still probably be repercussions for him. If he'd bought Viagra illegally, he still broke the law, the investigation would still be at his door, and the commish would still be involved. And if the commish's secretary came up in a police investigation about buying NFL-banned substances in such an illicit way, I am sure they would have just as bad, if not worse, of a penalty coming to them.
