What people are forgetting, or dismissing, about that play is that it was a 41 yard attempt BEFORE the snap. So if the holder fell on the ball it's now seven yards back.

A 48 yard attempt is better than what occurred. Theoretically, this is a pro kicker we're talking about. A 50 yard FG should be possible.

As others have mentioned, the game should not have come down to that point anyway. However, some planning during the time out would have at least given them another shot at the FG.

And this was the same kicker who beat the Eagles last week!

CBM is correct, my calcs were off. Regardless, a 48 yarder for Bryant is still out of his range. Given his kicking this year.

No, it would have been a 48 yard kick. The line of scrimmage was the 24 for the 41 yarder and he would have fallen on it at the 31, with seven more yards it would have been 48. Generally speaking, line of scrimmage + 17 equals kick distance. LOS 24=41 yard kick. Snap is 7 yards, fallen on at 31, LOS 31=48 yard kick.

Also, there are 3 or 4 kickers in the league that have the leg and consistency for a chance at a 55 yard kick or one of similar distance. Vanderjagt on INDY made two in a row like that to tie and beat Denver in the snow in OT on a Sunday night game this year. Elam and Mare from Denver and Miami respectively traded kicks like that on another Sunday night Denver loss. Janikowski can connect from that distance too, as well as probably a couple others. It's a moot point though, as the kick would have been a 48 yarder anyway.

Agreed on Bryant's range though, a 48 yarder for him, is like Shaq taking a potential game winning 3 pointer as time expires. It should be theoretically possible, but HIGHLY unlikely, as I said above, he'd have missed even the 41 yarder anyway.
