Duckus Posted January 26, 2007 Share Posted January 26, 2007 Good jobs with NGOs, Think Tanks and Non-Profits in DC will not be found on-line or in the newspaper. A lot of organizations/companies are always looking for good people to add to their staff but don't put it on monsterjobs.com. You need to find contacts/hr people within 20 companies that you want to work for and then send them your resume, writing sample and a specific cover letter to that company stating your interest. The worst thing that happens is they toss them in the trash can, but who cares. Just because a company that you love is not openly advertising jobs it does not mean you can't send them your resume and that they are not looking for people. Also, join organizations and societies in DC that have deal with development. There are thousands of them and usual will have seminars and speakers every once in a while. At these functions you will be able to get contacts who do work in the field that you are looking into. If you are going to use the internet have you tried Idealist.org ?
