Murilo Bustamante
Maybe there is a method to Spurrier's madness of so many replacements. As a team, the Skins have had a lot of talented players over the last five or six years. There have been a lot of reasons those players have not performed well here in DC- biased reffing, bad head coaching under Norv, and more. But maybe part is that these guys have never had to pay the price for fouling up on the field (until last year with Marty). They look good in practice, and keep their starting job. Well, that's nice, but what happens on the field is more important. Maybe the constant switching will get guys to remember they need to be more focused on the field. Rod Gardner isn't Art Monk yet, nor is Shane Matthews Joe Theismann. They are not "owed" s starting position on the team for any past performance. Brave
I'm all for accountability and for benching a guy who's not performing, but not at the price of consistancy. A new starting line-up every week? I don't know how healthy that is for the teams' psyche. At least our depth is getting experience, though, right? How's THAT for fiding a positive kernal? Murilo Bustamante
Well, they should have puit together an O-line and tried to keep it together all season. But otherwise, this is SS's first season, and he needs to see who can play.
Brave
I'm fine with that, except that most coaches use camp and preseason to find out who can play. Of course, Spurrier isn't "most coaches."
Cskin
On the NFL edge matchup, Jaws broke down a few plays from the skins Saints game. Interestingly, he indicated that the interception by Bellamy was the result of "indecision" by the intended receiver. Guess who was spot shadowed. Yep, Gardner! Jaws mentioned that Gardner did a move while running over the middle, and motioned as if he might break the route off and go back where he had came. Unfortunately, Ramsey threw right where Gardner would have been had he just kept to his route. Those types of mistakes, hesitations, and indecision that will get you a seat on the bench. Kudos S2 for holding the receivers accountable for their poor routes and mental mistakes. Rod, get your head in the game!
Fred Smoot Fan
Damnit we should've picked Chambers. We need Boston in the worst way.
DougWilliams
We need some consistency above all else? To the point of having consistently half-assed play? if you're screwing up, you sit.
