chomerics
Hey guys, many of you know that I work in the aerospace field. Well one of the projects that I worked on is about to launch into space. It is being brodcast via the internet from Japan and it is due to launch at 536pm today. The instrument we designed was the XRT, or the x-ray telescope on Solar-B Here is the live launch cast site. . . http://jaxa.tv/

chomerics
ok i got the site. good luck. Thanks man, the Japanese have not had a great track record with the mu-V rockets, which is the one Solar-B is on. Hopefully it won't become an instant submarine off the coast of Chile  They were like 50% successful previously, but the last 3 mu-V rockets have launched without a problem

mjah
Bravo! Now that you're in orbit, you get to hope you didn't screw anything up in the telescope...
chomerics
Bravo! Now that you're in orbit, you get to hope you didn't screw anything up in the telescope... That's why I have to wait 35 days to pop the cork. The last thing I need to hear is "Mike, the door didn't open, what do you think could have gone wrong?" Hopefully everything will operate smoothly, and it has been tested thoroughly, so nothing should go wrong. . . but until I know everything is all set, I'll still be on edge
