Few things to notice, that have already been analyzed and re-analyzed a thousand times on this board today in different threads: 1. Brandon Lloyd was clearly overthrown. 2. Brunell was trying to throw it out of bounds on that pick. 3. We may not have such a CB depth problem afterall... Clinton Portis anyone? That tackle was sick... notice how he stops on a dime in front of the guy, puts his hand down to gain leverage, and explodes into the tackle. That may have helped contribute to his injury. You are right, Portis' cleats got stuck in the turf just enough to make him tackle the CB at an awkward angle. It didn't help that CB was making his cut right at the exact moment Clinton made contact with his shoulder either. Were they playing on the new artificial turf yesterday? If so i've played on it and it's just rubber chips simulating dirt and grass. We had a couple injuries due to that turf... 1) Portis cleat getting caught 2) RB Carter's cleats getting caught in the turf resulting in ligament damage. Given how early it is in a new system, this is entirely possible where MB was thinking an out pattern and the WR was thinking an in. It's not an overthrow if your receiver can make those kinds of catches :cool: 2. Given where the ball was, I'd say its 50/50 wrong route/out of bounds. 3. thecardiacrll Posted August 14, 2006 Share Posted August 14, 2006 nobody has talked about it yet but on the play where portis gets injured....he layed out that blitzing linebacker with a shoulder to the chin litterally knocking his helmet off its unfortunate be got hurt but it also shows you how good he is him making that play saved us points cause our defense came out and stuffed them they didnt even get 3 points on that possesion Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
