RedskinsFanatic
Okay..don't laugh @ this question...but why can't the players union and the owners still talk after the deadline. So the date comes and goes...can't they still get something done anytime they want?

frommd
They can and probably will talk after the deadline. But, the business year will still begin March 3rd. Therefore, we'd still have to get under the cap this year. Also, the players are threatening that if their demands aren't met by the deadline this year, they will decertify their union and the cap will never return. TLusby
If there is not an extended CBA this year, the players and rich owners will dig in and wait it out. The damage in the short term will be done and recovery will happen in the uncapped years!

chaz13
If we cut 15 players by Friday to get under the cap and so do many other teams, working under the 06 rules now in place, there would be no rush to get a deal done because the players are already cut. It would free up more money to sign them, but it is much better to get the deal done before the purge of players starts. The idea is to get it done to avoid having teams cut all these players. One thing I was thinking is does anyone know if the league has come out w/ the final cap # for 06'. Remember it was supposed to come out Monday but was delayed. If it hasn't yet that could be a ray of hope that something still could get done.
