Nelms@the20
I remember the fact that our kicking game was automatic back in the day. When Moseley lined up to kick, you knew that ball was going in. I wonder if we will ever see that straight-on style ever again. In HS, our kicker also used the straight on style and went something like 21 of 24 including a couple over 40 yards. Anyway, great season. I hope we can get some major overhauls in the kicking game during the off season.
hail2skins
Moseley was money during the 1982 season. However, I suggest you revisit the early 1984 NFCCG against the Niners, where MM missed like 4 out of 5 field goals. He blamed it on RFK's playing surface that day. Moseley also missed an end-of-game kick against the Packers that season that could've won it and one against the Cowboys in the opener that could've been big. I also remember another Monday night game in San Diego that season where he was horrible. People are going to want to hang John Hall for missing that kick, but overall I think he's done a decent job. Hell, even Mr. Automatic (Vinatieri) missed one last night!!
Zen-like Todd
I think you might be shocked if you saw Moseley's career statistics. He was indeed automatic in 1982, but other than that, he was fairly inaccurate. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/moselmar01.htm http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/redskins/history/greats/articles/moseley.htm The man missed a lot of PATs, surprisingly. skinsfanxxvi
Do you remember in 2000 when we were super bowl favorites going into the year and Moseley kicked a ceremonial opening extra point before the opening game against Carolina- and missed it - twice. that was a bad omen for that season... SeattleSkinsFan
I'd rather remember Chip Lohmiller. Led the entire NFL in scoring in '91, believe. Almost single-handedly (single-footedly?) won a Monday night game in Dallas that year with four long field goals.
Conquistador
I saw Moseley kick for the Fredricksburg Generals in Virginia Beach at a Hampton Roads Sharks game in 1995. If you put a measuring tape across the uprights, I think he would've hit the center mark, the kick was awesome.
