Ways to improve our rushing attack...

D'Pablo

Recommended Posts

-run more tosses and sweeps

-run more plays with split backs

-run screens to our HBs/H-Backs/TEs/FBs

-send runners on deep to intermediate passing routes

-use fewer pulling guards and more H-Backs/TEs/FBs as lead blockers (quicker)

-pass more on first down

-fake more bootlegs (Denver-style rollouts)

-call audibles to the opposite side from where we are pulling

-use Betts early and Portis later

Can't think of any others. Thoughts?

It seems like every game I get the feeling we're not running the ball well, but at the end of the game we seemed to have rushed for about 150 yards which is considered good.

We're ranked 6th in rushing so I'm not sure what the problem is. Seems like were great between the 20's but once inside the redzone, we're just not getting it done.

I really liked that split back play we had ...

How about more misdirection, counters, fake hand of to fullback and then the pitch out to the RB, we did that last year, great play!

It's not how many yards we get... it's when and where we get them. Like we can't seem to score while rushing the ball in the redzone (this should be our safest option), but we never try the Priest Holmes sweep play. Btw, we do enough counters.
