jimster
Davey agrees to terms with Cardinals after Warner injury http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-cardinals-davey&prov=ap&type=lgns September 28, 2005 TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Free-agent quarterback Rohan Davey has agreed to terms with the Arizona Cardinals, providing insurance in case Kurt Warner's groin strain proves more serious than expected. Davey's agent, Joel Segal, said the 6-foot-2, 245-pound former LSU star was in Arizona and would have a physical Wednesday before signing a one-year contract. Davey doesn't look at himself as an automatic candidate for the inactive list each game, Segal said. ``We did not even discuss Warner,'' Segal said Tuesday. ``He's excited. Rohan had other opportunities, but he likes the way they have the three receivers (Anquan Boldin, Bryant Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald) there. They pass the ball, and he's looking forward to competing.'' Cardinals spokesman Mark Dalton said the team would need to make a roster move to sign Davey, but such a move would not involve putting Warner on the injured list, a season-ending designation. In Warner's absence, fourth-year pro Josh McCown was promoted to the first unit to prepare for Sunday's game against San Francisco in Mexico City. John Navarre, who started one game last year as a rookie, is his backup. Davey, released by New England on Aug. 29, also is in his fourth season. The Patriots drafted him in the fourth round in 2002 after he became the only player in LSU history to throw for over 3,000 yards in a season. But he got into only seven games in three years, going 8-of-19 for 88 yards, and saw most of his action in NFL Europe.

The X-Factor
King said Davie would be the next great starter in the NFL. I don't think that will happen with the Cards.
