Just some 411 on the enemy:

McDougle won't return until midseason

Eagles defender was among four players placed on reserve lists

By Jeff McLane

Inquirer Staff Writer

The Philadelphia Eagles today announced defensive end Jerome McDougle and safety J.R. Reed have been placed on the non-football injury/reserve list and that linebacker Greg Richmond and fullback Thomas Tapeh have been placed on the physically unable to perform/reserve list.

No players were cut.

All four players are eligible to return to practice anytime between weeks six and nine of the regular season. If a player returns to practice, the Eagles have up to 21 days to either activate him to the 53-man roster or place him on the injured reserve list.

Before suffering his gunshot wound on July 28, McDougle was expected to start on the defensive line.

The nerve damage to Reed's foot occurred during an accidental off-season injury. He's expected to miss the entire year.

Richmond recently underwent back surgery to repair a herniated disc, and Tapeh dislocated his hip last season.

With the moves, the Eagles active roster now stands at 71 players, including six NFL Europe roster exemptions.

All NFL teams are required to trim their rosters to 53 players by Sunday.
