This team just refuses to draft o linemen in the first few rounds
Since Trent Williams 4th in 2010 only 2 linemen have been picked in the top 2 rounds and 5 in the first 3 rounds
2023 Stromberg (3rd round)
2021 Cosmi (2nd round)
2018 Christian (3rd round)
2015 Scherff (1st round)
2014 Moses (3rd round)Yet they draft scrub RB/DT/DB's (Amerson, Cravens, Mathis, Guice, Matt Jones etc) in these rounds

Any danger of a lineman?
-
We already had multiple picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds due to sweat and young trades, the trade back was poor and unnecessary

Don't like the trade. We should've taken DeJean.

I see no chance. We have to rebuild everything. The cupboard is largely bare from utterly miserable drafts in '20, '21, '22 and '23, and that's after the team already had a bottom five roster heading into 2000 to begin with. The team should end on a two offseason build to get us in position to be 9-8 or better during the '26 season and hopefully double digit wins by '27, and that's if we do well/get lucky with the next 3 offseasons. We are liable to make mistakes, how many and how many big ones there are will tell the tale. The Texans weren't a disaster, they were a playoff team that went sidways because of the Watson Sex scandal and bottomed out when they went from top 5 quarterbacking to bottom 5 quarterbacking. We aren't that.
Our secondary is probably what a D?
Our linebackers are probably an F or D-
Our front four went from a B+/A- before the season to a C, and it's an old unit in its area of strength.
Our OL is a D at best
Our playmakers are a C at best
Our QB room is a C- to a D at best with Brissett leaving and only Howell in place.
The team will need to rebuild half or more of the OL, all the DL, all the LB's, most of the secondary, and replace all the playmakers by '26.
It's a total disaster. Some may argue that's reason to trade down, but it isn't, we have our shot now, we take it, we build around the OL pieces in place (Cosmi, Stromberg).
this is exactly right and we should not be expecting such a leap in one year. Texans we're in much better shape and did really well in FA (Schultz etc)
texans also got a generational QB. Compare Stroud to other recent 1/2 overall picks in last 10 years, most top 1/2 qb picks are average or scrubs
Winston, Mariota, Goff, Wentz, Murray, Bryce Young, Mayfield, trubisky (lol), Zach Wilson
Only Lawrence and Burrow were good to excellent and capable of turning around a franchise
we need a very good QB coupled with improvements at all levels of the defense plus o line and TE, and a HC to get the best out of them

What happens to Mayhew and Hurney now?
can't find any articles indicating if they stay/go
Strange that at least one have both been let go yet or been any communication

Say no to Vrabrel. 2 of our last 3 head coaches were fired retreads. No more fired retreads please.
Agree
id take him as a DC, like when Schwartz was fired after Lions and has had great success as a DC in other places (Philly, Cleveland)

Exactly this. This is a historically bad team, might as well get something for the future.

Wow Forbes really sucks!!
Another reason the Sweat trade was so bad. Draft is a lottery.
We had a proven player, and our 2nd round picks have been disastrous. Should've kept and paid the man.

Hate to sound so negative as we've a great draft pick regardless, cap space, new owner and GM on the way, but....
I can't see any scenario where the Bears pass on Williams. They've never had a real pro bowl QB in their history, and Fields is far too inconsistent and still hasn't played a full season for them yet.
even if we were to package a load of picks I can't see it mattering as they've their own pick (c.10 to get a lineman to block for Williams)
Can't see any reason why they'd pass up Williams to have Fields throwing to MHJ unless they got a load of firsts and even I think they'd stick with Williams

It's win/win for HarrisRiverbed wins games and the team has momentum going into offseason
or
team loses and has higher picks (as much of a lottery as the draft is)
Either way, Tugboat Ron is gone and Harris has draft picks from the two DE trades (Sweat trade a debatable one) and plenty of cap space
Harris doesn't get judged for 3 years minimum unfortunately in my view
to add to this, I've no doubt Harris realises how bad Rivera is, but if he fires him, he has to give EB interim HC or put someone in over EBif he does the former and doesn't then hire EB as HC next year it's a mess, if he does the latter it'll be as bad as when colts have Saturday the interim job
at least Harris isn't a complete idiot like Tepper just firing people

How this incompetent moron Rivera gets to hold on to the hc job this long is beyond me! Im beginning to think Harris isn’t much smarter than Snyder.

Does anyone find it amazing that the chiefs haven't had a high draft pick in years, have Mahomes and Jones on monster contracts and still have a much better D line and O line than us (and arguably better units at every position group)
Same argument for the Eagles albeit they've had a few high-ish draft picks
how do we get a GM who willsupply us with the same

WHERE IS THE URGENCY

I haven’t been upset about this team for at least 4 years now. I have no expectations. I just watch cause they’re still my team and I love football. Only hope that now since Dan is gone and it seems we have a QB, maybe something good is finally coming. It starts next March in FA with a new FO and staff!
My thoughts exactly
we lose games we're supposed to win
occasionally win games were supposed to lose
generally have nil consistency

Where is the urgency. Playing like we're 10+ points up.
little dink and dunk rubbish and short runs

Thought o line would get more attention in the draft with only 1 o lineman selected and it's not even clear what position he'll be: guard/tackle
last thing we want is Daniels (if he wins the starting job) getting crushed all year
