When does the real champ come back? The title fights were a bit of a let down after the first 3 fights of the main card.
-
Probably so, but it won't come in the form of Bethe Correia, which we all probably agree on.
Yeah, that Buster Douglas might not be in the UFC now. Holly Holm didn't look that great in her debut, Jessica Eye might not get past Meisha Tate. That leaves Amanda Nunes, Marion Reneau, and a still raw Julianna Pena as the only fighters Rousey hasn't already beaten.
Is there a 135 lb Joanna Jedrzejczyk out there somewhere?
-
Rousey just found her most challenging opponent, the SI Cover curse.
Between the SI cover, being called the world's most dominant athlete, and quotes like this:
This fight has gone pretty personal for me and when I finish fights quickly, that's really me at my most merciful," Rousey said. "My dad would call it a ‘come to Jesus meeting’. I’m going all the way down to Brazil to a ‘come to Jesus meeting’ with this chick. No, I’m not gonna end it quickly. But not because I can’t end it quickly, because I choose to.
It kinda feels like the stars are aligning for an upset. Pride comes before a fall and all that. Her Buster Douglas is out there somewhere.

what i ultimately took away from that whole fiasco was how utterly unprofessional and personally embarrassing Reid was.
Reid is also the only reporter I know of that got into a Twitter war with an active player on the team he was covering. Wasn't there also another incident with Reid at Redskins Park in the locker room or media room last year?
When you take all of that into account I can't blame the team for wanting to kill that show, if that is how it went down. Reid had gone beyond critical to outright disruptive.
If Snyder wanted to control the message on 980 why didn't he clean house when he bought the station? Get rid of guys like Andy Pollin right away. Pollin killed the team every chance he got. Mitchell kills the team, Czaban kills the team. It is not like 980 has Larry Michael types on 24/7.

Glad to see Cowboy win but that was probably the wrong decision.

So they are going to have an afternoon FS1 card in Fairfax? Seems like a strange one. I guess it will be at the Patriot Center.

I don't claim to be an expert on this, but do all PED's result in bulking up ?
Just by virtue of the name "Performance Enhancing", it seems like some PED's could enhance performace in various ways, and by definition - not necessarily have that stereotypical, exaggerrated chiseled appearance.
No, the doping stuff cyclists use doesn't result in muscle gain that I know of. But I think when testosterone levels are involved most of the guys who have been busted are big ripped guys or old guys trying to hold on and compete against the young guys. Chael Sonnen wasn't a huge ripped guy, he fell into the old guy trying to hang on category.
It is possible that Jones was using something to help him recover from workouts and was not lifting in a way that would cause him to blow up like an Overeem.

Bones's urine tests are revealing more than just a coke habit, they are also showing very abnormal levels of testosterone, as in pretty unbelievable. His levels are off more then when a former Olympic wrestler was popped for HGH.
http://culturecrossfire.com/sports/mma/jon-joness-testosterone-levels-are-suspect/#.VK3oRCvF-Sp
Also, this is somewhat proof that MMA is still not the huge sport some of us would like it to be as the coverage has been very little outside of MMA-specific outlets and the problem with those are that 75% of MMA media outlets are a joke because they consist of folks who are basically auditioning for a job with UFC and/or are afraid to challenge Dana/Zuffa on anything out of fear of losing credentials to UFC events.
As far as the testosterone levels go, a little googling suggests that cocaine use can reduce testosterone levels. Which could explain why his levels were low on the test he failed for coke and then higher on the test he passed once the coke was completely out of his system.
He could be using PEDs, but considering his family genetics it doesn't seem like, at 27, he would need them. He doesn't really look like a guy on steroids. With his genetics, if he was juicing I would think he would be a monster like Overeem.

Not really new news but interesting to hear someone admit that it wasn't an accident that the bill was a jumbled incomprehensible mess.. From this article.
An architect of the federal healthcare law said last year that a "lack of transparency" and the "stupidity of the American voter" helped Congress approve ObamaCare.
In a clip unearthed Sunday, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Jonathan Gruber appears on a panel and discusses how the reform earned enough votes to pass.
snip
"Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” Gruber said. "And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass."
Gruber made the comment while discussing how the law was "written in a tortured way" to avoid a bad score from the Congressional Budget Office. He suggested that voters would have rejected ObamaCare if the penalties for going without health insurance were interpreted as taxes, either by budget analysts or the public.

"If you had a law that made it explicit that healthy people are going to pay in and sick people are going to get subsidies, it would not have passed," he added. -
Gotta give Correia credit. She figured out an angle to get under Ronda's skin to get a title shot and she has executed the plan perfectly. If the UFC can't set up some "super fight" between Rousey and Carrano Correia probably gets the next shot. 9-0 with 3 UFC wins is as good as any challenger left out there.
That being said I think Ronda will probably toss her around the ring.

Big Brown got robbed. Arlovski might have one the 1st, maybe.
-
Ref deserves some blame as well. Guy can't stand, you stop the fight. Seems simple enough.
Yeah, he should have stopped and checked him out after the first collapse. You can't let a guy keep fighting on one leg like that.
-
Can't believe Varner's corner didn't throw in the towel earlier in the round. Someone should have stopped that fight. The guy went 4 minutes with a broken ankle. That was crazy.
-
The Raid 2 is unbelievable. Might be the best action movie I have ever seen. Applause from the whole theater at the end of it. I'm afraid Captain America is going to seem boring by comparison.

From the HHS Facebook page. I'm not familiar with the meme but this surely must be the high point of the Obamacare marketing campaign. Young healthy people will be flocking to sign up now.
-
It is like his shin turned to rubber. Crazy.
-
That is one of the worst things I have ever seen. Oh My God!
EDIT: Weidman needs to put the flag down. You can't celebrate after a win like that.
-
With the team celebrating the San Diego Super Bowl win why not wear white with burgundy pants, like all of the Super Bowl winners? It has been so long since we have seen that it would qualify as a "throwback" at this point.
The throwbacks we are wearing should have the spear helmet.

Overeem is a big stupid doofus. I say this every time he fights but I'll say it again. He has never impressed me in the least. I wanted so badly wanted to predict that Travis Browne would beat him tonight.
Dude has zero heart. Zero brains.
Yep. He did nothing to adjust to those kicks. Just kept walking into them.
-
Away- White jersey/ Burgundy pants
I agree with you there. I want to see RG3 in the classic white/burgundy.
-
RG3 needs to zip it. I don't want Nike anywhere near our uniforms. We'll end up with a shiny gold version of Oregon's chrome feathered helmets. If teams with no history like the Jags or Seahawks want to go that way fine. Leave us alone.
-
I just don't even understand the thought process for biting someone. Slapping or punching or even headbutting, sure. But biting? Are you 3?
Zero impulse control and not the first time he has done it. Not to mention the racial stuff last year. Great player, horrible person. Something like that deserves a lifetime ban.
-
I don't think this one has been mentioned.
MI-5. It is a slightly older BBC show (2002-2011) about their internal counter intelligence and security agency. It is available streaming on Netflix and is great. The first episode is just okay so give it at least two episodes. After episode 2 you will be hooked.

Tyron Woodley is a monster. OMG!
Anything MMA, except thumb wrestling

I'll just leave this here.
Not something you see everyday in a heavyweight fight.
