Sam Howell was originally considered by many to be the projected #1 qb in the draft last year going into the college season. He didn’t even have a bad season but because it wasn’t as good as his year the one prior, he dropped significantly. I watched Howell play a few games in college, and I remember thinking “oh this guy is better then Pickett and Coral.” I truly believe he has a shot to be our franchise qb. And I’m not some UNC homer. I’m a die hard notre dame fan, and I watched Howell carry his team on his back to give us a tough game that year.

Taylor is an overachiever. He played great for his limitations physically. But if we really want to see what we can do, we have to put Howell in. It’s the only way to evaluate if we need to get a qb next year or not. Taylor will always be a backup, and a great one at that. But he’s not going to take any team deep into the playoffs

Ok, so your source is your opinion. Got it. Fair enough but puts a perspective on the discussion.
Where on my post did I ever say it wasn’t an opinion? Isn’t that what this forum is for? Opinions? Some of you need to honestly stop being jerks for no reason. We are all in this boat together.
edit:
Reading my post again, how can anyone think that wasn’t an opinion? Lol

Source? Because I’m betting that the “he looked better then anyone else” was not against the same level of competition.
not saying he can’t play or shouldn’t be given a shot at some point, just trying to keep the comparison on a level field
The source was my own eyes watching preseason games dude. Did you not watch them?

Howell looked better then anyone else we had in preseason. Why not give him a shot

Yea I told my son the same thing after the crappy name change. He was so excited for “red wolves” and when it was nothing even close to that, he was depressed. I told him you can pick any team you like, just not the cowboys. He said he isn’t budging tho, and honestly I was hoping he would. I was hoping he’d like another team so I’d have an excuse to not watch Snyder continue to run down this once great franchise. I don’t know how much worse it’ll get, but I know it’ll get worse. Why did everyone I know think the wentz idea was bad, but the coaches and management thought it was a good idea? How stupid can you be?

Wentz is garbage. Sorry but he is. Good qbs make bad lines look good. Good qbs make bad receivers look great.
our receivers are a strong point in my opinion, and wentz looks like a deer in headlights back there. He’s constantly looking like he’s bracing for a hit instead of stepping into a throw, holds the ball too long, and scared to give his guys a chance. Put Howell in, and let’s see how he does so we know if we need to draft a qb or not next year. And can we please please stop getting these mediocre veteran qbs like smith, wentz, Keemun, etc? It’s just so deflating
-
You guys blaming the oline are wrong. Good qbs make bad olines look good. And Stafford had a bad game, he’s also basically only able to trust one wide receiver to throw to. Wentz problem isn’t the oline, it’s him being complete trash and us wasting $ on him because Snyder probably thought he was getting 2017 wentz.

The name change to commanders did me in. I want to care but I don’t. I tried liking other teams. It doesn’t work. Oh well… it’s so sad how badly beat down this fan base is and how bad Snyder killed our dreams

I’m glad wentz played well. But some of you need to really chill. It’s one game against the worst team in the league last year. This isn’t the chiefs.

It’s just preseason, but I still think the wentz trade was a huge mistake. I cannot for the life of me figure out what they saw in him. Let him start and have the year, give Howell a year to sit, I’m sure we won’t be going into the playoffs with wentz but whatever, maybe Howell will learn a lot watching and become our guy. He’s got as much heart as Heiny, but way more talent. I’m excited for him

I went golfing after the half I got 2 texts about Howell, did he look good?
He looked like it was a sin that he made it to the 5th round. I am so happy we got this guy

Anyone know how Sam Howell has looked?

I live 30 mins from penn state. However,
i hate penn state, I’m a notre dame die hard fan.
With that being said, this kid is legit. I was shocked he wasn’t ranked above olave. Pen. State has the worst qbs and this kids made them all look good

So there is probably 0% chance we go qb in the first couple rounds now I take it. Even with wentz on a 1 year deal, I can’t see it happening
-
I would have much rather had matt Ryan over wentz. Browns won this tho. Sorry, whether you hate the guy or not, Watson was the most amazing quarterback I had ever seen that had a crap team.

The attitude of “well glass half full” is getting old. Can we all just agree to boycott the damn games this year so Snyder sells the team? Aren’t you tired of hurting ?

Lol anyone who wants to justify this is a rose colored glasses wearing homer and I got nothing to say to you.
for everyone else, this is a joke and we all know it. Another Fitzpatrick, another mediocre bullsh*t qb. And another year where we have literally no shot of even contending for a playoff run. You think they laugh at us for the name? This is even worse. What a freaking joke. This team just can’t stop shooting itself

Reading through the last 20 pages, I cannot believe some of you are high on Winston(LOL), or Garropolo for that matter. You all don’t learn from the last do you ?
Secondly, to the people saying “we are more then a qb away,” the Bengals have proved that’s a buncha bs. Get the qb, you get a chance. Without Rodgers that packers team is 3-14, without Josh Allen, Bills are 5-12. You need a QB, period

If he can keep his nose (and his massage table) clean, and lead the Commandys to respectability, he'll salvage his career and this team. And if he wins a Super Bowl, then there'll be a groundswell to rename the team the Washington Watsons. Put Deshaun's face on the helmet and go back to the B&G.
Hail to the Watsons, hail victory, Deshaun's on the warpath, fight for new D.C.!
I would throw 3 1st round picks at Watson in a heartbeat and not think twice about it. But only if the legal issues are settled

I appreciate a lot of you guys optimism saying “qb problem will be fixed this year or next” whenever we haven’t had one in basically 30 years (with the exemption of an rg3 rookie season and cousins before Bruce decided to let him walk for free).
i am not as optimistic. I’m more worried we get a mediocre qb like Jimmy g, or even worse, go for a complete let down like jameis Winston.
if we don’t land Watson, Wilson, or the top of the crop, then just draft one. Trading a bunch of picks for Jimmy g is just another rehashing of Alex smith 2.0

Russel Wilson has always been hot and cold. Sometimes he throws for 500 and 4 tuddys and other times he throws for 160 and 2 ints. But the only thing that makes him consistent is that he almost always keeps his team in the game. Idk how he does it, but he does it.
my dream acquisition for us is Watson(I actually think Watson is better then mahomes. Yea call me crazy, but if you switch mahomes and watson last year and the year before, there is no way mahomes would be able to put those numbers up with that awful Houston offense with no run game at all. Whereas Watson threw for 5k yards, 35+ tuddys, and like 71% completion! If Watson had Andy Reid and Kc players, they would be even better. If mahomes went to Houston, he wouldn’t shine half as bright.)if Watson is a no go, then rodgers and Wilson are my next choice, but Wilson moreso. He’s younger and has way more years left.
if neither of those 3 can be gotten, then I say just go with the draft, unless some crazy crap happens where a Herbert/burrow/Allen or even a Lawrence/Mac jones became available.
PLEASE GOD DO NOT GO FOR JIMMY G.
jimmy g is mediocre, I’m tired of us chasing mediocre qbs. Fitzpatrick, Alex smith, it just gets old

I been watching the senior bowl practices and all the qb drills and Malik Willis has been head and shoulders above the rest. I like Pickett but he’s been rough, and I don’t like the fact he didn’t play in his bowl game, whereas Willis is the opposite. Apparently even volunteering to go visit kids when his DL were canceling since it was right after practice

Carr sucks
we should just go all in on Watson if his charges get cleared. Otherwise take a shot In The draft
