But we replaced him with an asset of lower value......and you have no idea what Howells value would be in a future with actual coaches and an oline that functions.
Just to clarify your statement, are you saying Jayden Daniels is worse than Howell? Even after including 5 years of control vs 2?
That's a big statement.

Still don't get why we traded Howell if JD was the pick. Pretty stupid IMHO.
Cause we got really good value for the trade, and that was the highest Howell's value would be. If an asset is going to depreciate and isn't going to be used, then sell it.

No one he talked to liked Maye, said he's raw, misses too many layups, doesn't go through progressions, basically said he's a mess. I am running on fumes but that's what I gathered.
I don't think he talked to many then. Sounds like he's just regurgitating hot takes.
You can watch games of Maye and not see a missed layup in them. It happens, but the issue is overblown.

Donovan is why Jayden wears #5.
Was he even old enough to remember when Donovan was good with the Eagles? He was already fading fast by the time we traded for him.
12 minutes ago, Warhead36 said:Daniels is just as fast as Fields while being a much better passer. His arm isn't as strong but he processes waaaaaay faster and has a waaaaaay quicker/more fluid release.
The issue is the size. Fields is a big boy.
Fields couldn't throw on the run in college. It was an inaccurate mess. Daniels rarely does it but it looks good when he does.
So that's another difference.
5 hours ago, Going Commando said:He's going to need a lot more than that. He also needs a great OL to make plays from the pocket. Tyler Biadasz and a back up guard aren't going to get it done.
I don't understand how we can have gone through another whole regime and Terry McLaurin is still our only serious weapon on offense. And our line got way worse. We should have lucked into more than just Sam Cosmi in five years of trying to build the offense.
Cause the last regime was real bad at drafting and free agency, although the latter was influenced by Dan Snyder pinching pennies during the sale.
I wonder if we trade for a WR on Day 2. Several of them are disgruntled.

I think there is a shot for Kool-Aid because of his medicalsI've heard that too, but I haven't read his foot injury poses a long term or significant risk right?

Anyone else having server issues responding to this thread?

Chop may be there at 36. That’s tempting. Not gonna lie.
My dream is both Chop and Kool-Aid are there for our picks. Still doubt either are, but at least it's more likely.

Didn't the Raiders just take Mayer last year? Bowers seems like a luxury.
Mayers was not on the level of Bowers as a prospect, he was the 3rd TE taken. And probably will bust, he was physically lacking in a lot of areas.

Alright, I don't have to worry about spending excess resources on an undersized TE. (Bowers is good, but still)

Now… a real question becomes how far does Bowers have to fall before Washington considers trading up.
I don’t think I would until mid 20s and I don’t see a chance in hell he’s there that long.
I would not trade up for Bowers. I know this is an unpopular opinion. But just can't do it.

Are the Mannings and Belichick doing a simulcast of this? Is it streaming free anywhere?

The draft day thread is now up.
I'll still post in both threads as that one moves so damn fast and isn't as conducive to depth discussion.

So much trade intrigue about moving up for a WR or a OT in the 1st.
I think we should prepare for the 2nd round to not go the way people hope for our picks due to many teams reaching ahead of us.

Gallo and Rosario were key offseason signings lol
Oh well. low risk short term Deals iirc
More like key trade bait. I'm assuming we'll sell Winker in 2 months.
-
I'm still confused why Eddie Rosario is on the team. He can't hit, he can't field, he can't run the bases like the rest of the team. He's got the 2nd slowest sprint speed on the team, and the actual slowest is the catcher. He also doesn't really look interested in playing.
Surely we can do better with any AAA player even if we don't want to call up James Wood right?

As we come down the home stretch, the whispers of Washington's preference for Daniels have become a roar. I'm sure the Commanders have had suitors looking to acquire this pick -- including the Raiders -- but I don't see GM Adam Peters passing on the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.

PROJECTED TRADE WITH LOS ANGELES RAMS
I can't imagine the Commanders are going to sit back at No. 36 and hope that fate lands them a top offensive tackle early in Round 2, given the expectation that there will be a run on them in the first round. They could and should be aggressive to move up for a premium prospect at the position. Based on my discussions with college programs and NFL teams, Washington has done a lot of work on the top OTs in the class. Poised to make a first-round pick for the first time since 2016, Rams GM Les Snead has a chuckle and trades out once again. This deal could net him the 36th and 40th picks in the draft if he gives up a third-rounder in the swap.
That's #19 & #83 for #36 & #40
OverTheCap model has that as 2269 value coming in and 2315 going out.
Rich Hill model has 330 coming in and 315 going out.
That seems pretty fair value wise. One chart has us losing slightly, the other winning slightly.
For the record, Tyler Guyton is the next pick. So do we do that trade and roll the dice on the injured Unicorn OT?

What?? Don't you need one of those to bend your knee?
It was information from one of Bruce Feldmen's sources on the Athletic. They don't know if Payton Wilson makes it to the 2nd contract, but they would absolutely not re-sign him to one.
4 hours ago, CommDownMan said:I've always thought it was needed more for Side to side motion. So I would think it's important for a LB.
So straight line activities like running are ok, but playing shortstop or tennis would be a big risk to further injury.
I know they tell you not to Ski or Ice Skate if you've got a partially torn ACL.
30 minutes ago, Going Commando said:I'm revising my IOL rankings. Went back and re-watched some cut ups and ended up moving a couple of players around. Moved Frazier and Zinter and Beebe and Van Pran up. I liked Frazier's film a lot more this time, and I'm seeing more of the optimistic takes about him better now. Moved Zinter way up too. One of the byproducts of watching Corum so much is that Zinter really shines. He's a dominant run blocker and he's got a fantastic anchor. I think he, Beebe, Van Pran, and JPJ constitute the four elite IOLs of the class, and all have second round value.
IOL:
1 - Cooper Beebe
2 - Jackson Powers Johnson
3 - Sedrick Van Pran
4 - Zak Zinter
5 - Christian Haynes
6 - Mason McCormick
7 - Beaux Limmer
8 - Zach Frazier
9 - Christian Mahogany
10 - Kingsley EguakunNow where would you stick some guys from OT to IOL if you were forced to do it. Like Barton, Morgan, Rosengarten, etc etc.

Apparently the LB Payton Wilson doesn't have an ACL in his right knee.

Rosengarten's arm length is below 34''. He's a G in the NFL. I'd take him but not at 40 or before. At 67 though sure.
34" is the ideal length. But it's not a deal breaker to be under it. 33" starts becoming problematic however. I'm trying to remember Joe Thomas's remeasured arm length and it was something like 33 and 5/8ths? Jason Peters, the LT for the Bills and Eagles for decades was something like 33 and 1/8 and or 2/8.
Roger Rosengarten's arm length is 33.5", makes it harder but it's not a deal breaker. He's got to be technically consistent to make it work, but helpfully he's athletic.
I think it's more likely he's a Guard than OT, but I'm not ruling it out. I also don't think I'd take him at 40, but I would happily at 67. He's one of my trade back from 36 or 40 candidates and then draft.

Didn't Keim mention he heard from people inside the building that Quinn was a serious candidate? He's not framing it the same way now. He's saying he's only hearing about Daniels from talking to people outside the org that like him.

I like the player, but he's different than Branch and Pitre. They weren't undersized. Tiny zone corners are bad value in the first round. There is a much bigger chance he's Clark Phillips than he's Branch/Pitre. We're looking at a player whose best case scenario is someone like Kenny Moore--which is good, but that is the best case scenario, and it's not that valuable.
Different athlete, and Phillips arm length was just too small. Sainristil's length is below average but not too short.
What about Antoine Winfield Sr as a comparison? Maybe I'm overvaluing Kenny Moore, but he's an above average to really good Nickel corner. I think that's valuable enough to spend a 2nd rounder on.
I get not wanting to spend #36 or #40 on Sainristil. But trading back and grabbing him at #50+? 4 years of 80% snaps at above average play is great value.

They lined him up against MHJ outwide and did fine. 1v1 coverage, didn't look out of place against him, and Ohio State wasn't targeting him.
He's versatile, tiny, but a gamer. He'd improve the defense.

I love non consensus personal rankings.
If that's how it plays out, I think trading back makes sense. Unless you've got a big talent drop off in the Blake Fisher area.

There are several players like that. Such as both corners.
Yeah, we have no idea how important (or not) a good kick returner is with the kickoff overhaul.
