People make all kinds of excuses for young players, but the ballers typically play well from the start and the vets acknowledge it. Happened with Terry, happened with Sean Taylor etc. Looks like it’s happening with Jayden. We might finally have a QB!

Agree. The early signs look great. If nothing else, he certainly appears very driven to succeed.

  2. 49ers have both WRs Aiyuk  and Jennings missing from OTAs.

Think Jennings got the second round RFA tender assigned that he won’t sign. I certainly wouldn’t give up a second, but for a lower draft pick, I’d be very interested.

Thanks to everyone for posting info in the thread for me. My father in-law passed away a couple of days ago. So I have been pretty busy. Love finding a few minutes to take my mind off of life. It is appreciated.

Make sure you keep making the time to check in ….

I'd guess so.  He's an engima to me as far as fitting this regime.  In one sense he fits as an extra Wr because he's good at special teams and is a good run blocker.  In another sense he doesn't fit at all because he's so not physical at the catch point -- he's awful in contested catch situations.

With Kingsbury at AZ by the looks of it.

Our WR room blows big time. Possibly league worst. Samuels was close to being the best one last year and he's gone. TMac is legit, but that's it. Dotson sucked big time last year. He's not cemented in as WR2. Any and every WR in camp has a shot at being a starter.

Trading or acquiring a quality vet must still be on the offseason to do list IMO.

Why can’t Coleman be our RT?

Well he can I suppose. A couple of posts back you said Lucas was best suited at RT so Coleman at RT wasn’t a previous suggestion of yours. Maybe I missed that. Either way, yep they could be our starting OT tandem one way or the other.

I’d argue RT is the primary issue. Lucas can play RT and be an improvement to that side of the field. But we have no LT solution so he has to play there.

I actually think Lucas is best suited at RT.

I think both OT spots are an issue. The discussion point was specifically the merits of Coleman starting at LT. Different conversation.

I’m talking more about the other side.

Id accept occasional brick wall and occasional loosely fashioned chain-link for Lucas.

Yeah this debate was more on Coleman at LT.

    RT, another issue,

But that's what we are being told by Keim et al that the FO was thinking when drafting him...

    Yep.

And the FO had a specific plan to prioritise the IOL first. I believe the phrase was to build from the inside out.

  10. Clearly raw.

However, also clearly about as focused and professional as you would get from a rookie. It’s in the blood.

In an interview, he comes off as polished and mature as Terry does.

Agree. That’s a massive sign of encouragement for me.

I tend to think he was the pick because of ceiling and versatility (more outs). I don't think it was that simple. When you need to replace your OL Bench, and multiple starters, versatility like Coleman's probably trumps straight OT's who can't do anything else especially when they have ceilings as high as him.

I think he’s was picked to start LT

Playing Coleman at tackle this year is setting him up for failure.  His best shot at holding his own for us is at LG.

We drafted Coleman to play LT and brought a superbowl winner in to play LG. That’s the plan.

Nabers is the dummy who couldn't keep his mouth shut and oddly felt compelled to tell people. Might be an early sign as some have said during the process that Nabers is a bit of a personality and not always in a good way.

You can tell in the interview that Daniels was reluctant to talk about it but he's too willing in these interviews to please the interviewer, he will learn not to be that level of a pleaser in the future I assume.

Only good thing to me about the whole thing is while I accede Nabers is a big time talent.  I've also heard he is a bit of a headcase.  Him setting this issue afire is maybe an early sign that the Giants have a player that isn't the easiest dude to deal with.

Post draft interviews demonstrated that, doesn’t look entirely wired up right IMO 😂

That said, great talent. Could go either way that one…

    Edit -

and Daniels needs to learn the pro ropes fast…
