  1. Oops, I'm sorry!! It's late at night, I just finished a paper, and my sarcasm detector is switched to "off" evidently...which really means I need to go to bed because I'm usually all over sarcasm.
  2. I believe Rampage WAS, in fact, yelling at him to stand up.
  3. Thought this was kinda interesting... Quarry's myspace blog about the fight on Saturday night: 04/23/08 12:44PM Another day at the office.... What a week! Canada was incredible. Beautiful city, beautiful women, great crowd (eventually) :-) The preparation for this fight was so much better than the last one. Stayed strong throughout and had great coaches and sparring partners come together for me. Kru Jeremy Wijers and Kru Dan Burke teamed up on me for my Thai boxing. Leonard Trigg and Dan Taylor helped me with my boxing. Phil Claud got my conditioning up so I could push the pace for 15 minutes. Marco and Tim flew over from New Jersey Martial Arts just to help me out, both guys are black belts in Ju Jitsu and they would just attack me over and over til the tears flowed and I didn't want to play anymore. And of course Greg Thompson was my head corner and MMA coach that brought everything together. We like to refer to him as my Nipple. My game plan for the fight was just to stay in face the whole fight. Never let him get any momentum. I felt that when I started throwing he would freeze up and I'd be able to unload. I wasn't expecting him to move backwards so much. I assumed he'd be trying for the takedown the whole time. But I think after a few attempts he got disheartened and was looking not to lose instead of looking to win. I have a hard time recalling how the fight goes during the fight and even thought he may have won the first round but towards the end I just became so frustrated I did my running man impression. And when I heard the 10 second bell I just thought, "ok, if he won't engage I'm going to do the most ridiculous thing I can think of and just maybe he'll come in and try and throw something." But no, couldn't get him fired up. One of the best parts of the night for me I had to be told about later because I didn't hear it at the time. Right at the end after my "RockHammer" technique, he looked at me and says, "real classy." Then not 2 minutes later when my corner Greg said to him, "My guy came here to fight, you came here to run away." That's when Kalib starts yelling, "F' you you f'ing faggott! Why don't you fight me!" that to me isn't very classy. But oh well. I don't hold anything against him. Its very tough living your life in front of millions and especially something so personal as fighting. Because its in fights where your true character comes out and sometimes the pressure forces out parts of us we'd prefer to keep private. And of course it's magnified 100 fold due to the microscope we're under. I have no doubt he'll be successful wherever he ends up. But I think the lesson in all of this is that 2 guys trying to kill each other is better than 20 million. And if I can change and you can change..... ANYBODY CAN CHANGE!!!!
  4. Um, ok. Kalib just keeps digging himself deeper the more he opens his mouth. All I got from the interview Doublestrokeroll posted was Kalib making a lot of half-assed excuses for his pitiful performance...if that's what it can even be called. I find the broken foot excuse pretty hilarious...I mean you would think that with a broken foot you wouldn't be able to run around the octagon for 15 minutes. I also find it funny that he said the injury made him shift from offensive fighting to defensive fighting...I don't remember him ever being offensive during this fight... Also, if it's true that Kalib was, in fact, working on getting released from his contract, my question is why? Why did he go on TUF in an effort to move up into the UFC if he was just going to quit UFC? What an idiot.
  5. Yeah...after looking at that pic of Chuck's hamstring, he's out for a bit. Good grief! If Irwin definitely replaces Chuck I say take that fight off the main card. Lesnar obviously hasn't been in the UFC as long, but he's got the "freak show" appeal that I think would attract more attention for the event...IMO.
  6.   Drrrrrrr. That was inevitable.
  7. Nah, you wouldn't know him. On the rare occasion that he does fight, it's at 145. He hasn't fought since 2006 though, he's focused more on wrestling and school.
  8. Touche And you're right, Serra's never going to change his "hobbit-ness" and shorter reach, and I'll defnitely agree with you that he's a scrappy dude. Oh yeah, and last April I clearly remember where I was...I was screaming at my boyfriend to shut up and stop dancing around the room celebrating that Serra had TKO'd GSP and "beat Canada!"
  9.   Thank-You ZoED. I saw the "submission of the night" and laughed my butt off. Herman is such a jackass! I met him at a fight before and not only was he a total d-bag and full of himself, but he was a moron to boot. Probably didn't help that he met my boyfriend in the warm-up area before the fight and made fun of him for drinking Pedialyte after cutting 17 lbs. for the fight. Maybe Pedialyte would have helped Herman from going to sleep tonight...but doubtful, hahaha! *Disclaimer: Sorry boys, but yes, I am vengeful like that...screw Herman! Plus, I don't respect those Quest boys like I used to back in the day... P.S. Serra isn't in the top 5 for 185, they were fighting for the welterweight (170 lb.) belt...but I agree, GSP underestimated Serra first go-around and Serra's win was a fluke. I, however, would LOVE to see GSP move up to 185 and challenge Silva for the belt. I think that would be a great match-up!
  10. That's exactly what I said when the idiot walked out...Nickelback!?! Are you fricking kidding me!?! That choice of music and the fact that it's well known in the MMA world that Lutter is continually out of shape, unable to make weight, etc. led me to forsee this butt-kicking Oh yeah, and I like Franklin
  11. Something so hot about a guy who picks effing Serra to beat GSP the second go-around.......  Precisely! All you all are crazy who picked Serra over GSP!
  12. I love Franklin, nicest guy ever. Probably nicest fighter I've ever met. Kalib isn't going to get a chance to "fight" again in the UFC with the crap he just pulled. No way Dana White gives him another contract after this. No way.
  13. 1. Bisping is a total jackass - hate that guy 2. Lutter - another jackass - glad he got his butt kicked 3. Kalib - yet ANOTHER jackass. Hope he never gets another UFC contract after the BS he just pulled in the octagon. And THAT folks, is how I feel
  14. Oh for God's sake....I do one, maybe 2, maybe 35 Elaine dance moves (and counting) and I'm branded for LIFE! Unfrickinbelievable.
  15. Thank GOD Tim's gone....although it was fun watching him get taken down by Couture. Seriously though, his fights sucked unless you feel like watching a dude jab for 5 rounds.
  16. 1. Well, I can tell you that the owners of the UFC and it's president do want the sport to become more mainstream according to interviews they've given. 2. Huh? Kicks to the head are illegal? As far as I know they are legal unless we're talking about a grounded opponent.
  17. I think this is a very good point. MMA is trying to get more of a foothold in the mainstream sports world and controversies like this can hinder this process. I love MMA and want to see it become more mainstream, but I honestly think the lack of recognition of the seriousness of the issue by state commisions could delegitimatize the validity of this sport in the public's eyes...which is one of the reasons I support the comission's ruling.
  18. Nope, not yet, but I'm headed to med. school once I finish my current degree. I've worked with multiple physicians though and am quite familiar with the practice of furnishing medical marijuana cards here in California and yes, I'm very skeptical of Diaz being supplied marijuana for ADD. In fact, I'm very skeptical about these cards in general b/c there is such widespread abuse. I can honestly say I do not know one LEGITIMATE physician who prescribes marijuana outside of the realm of severe chronic pain cases and terminal cancer. Whatever though, that's obviously my personal bias against marijuana use for psychological issues, especially since there is peer-reviewed scientific literature on the longterm psychosis-inducing effects of marijuana. Regardless, I fully support the comission's decision to revoke Diaz's right to fight in this event until they have more time to investigate all circumstances surrounding his use of a drug they have banned. If, in fact, they conclude that this is a legit prescription, fine, let him fight, no problem. But I think you are failing to recognize that this is a major grey area among the both the rule-making entities of the MMA world as well as the medical community in general. The commission certainly needs time to investigate this matter and make a sound, well-thought out decision in a matter that is so controversial. And please, don't give me this poor Diaz is still living at home crap. How long has this guy fought in pro-fights? How many sponsors does this guy have? If he can't move out and rent a frickin' apartment with the money he's made over the past few years, that's HIS fault. I'm sorry, but I just don't have a lot of pity for that argument, especially since one of my friends is a pro-fighter out of Gresham and he's working in WAY smaller shows but has still managed to make it on his own without having to live with his parents.
  19. LOL, oh-tay, he's using marijuana for ADD.........Good Lord. I know Diaz is an organic eater and probably wants to use natural, herbal rememdies for his ADD Whatever. From the article it sounds like the commission needed more time to investigate the validity of his medical marijuana prescription and make sure it is being legitimately used in compliance with their anti-doping rules. What's wrong with that???
  20. I think an important question to be asked would be....WHY does Nick Diaz possess and "need" a medical marijuana card? Does he have some terminal cancer we haven't been told about?
  21. I know, I love Henderson. Silva isn't going to come against tougher competition in the middleweight class, Henderson is the best he's goinig to get. Henderson's going to destroy everyone else, it's just that Silva is THAT GOOD. Koscheck, same hair as usual. Same attitude as usual. Ass.
  22. Good grief, can't believe we paid so much for that!! So sad that Henderson lost though, really like the guy. I think he's going to come back with a vengance. Also, Koscheck, meh. Don't like that guy either, thought he was done in the first rount. I really want Joe Silva just to match him up with someone who'll kill him then we cn be done with Koscheck for a bit. i love my wrestlers, but Koscheck is a jerk IMO.
  23. Dang, I didn't think Henderson would be submitted like that. Holy crap. Oh well, still love Henderson and my respect for Silva definitely goes up tenfold.
