  1. Let's revisit what you said

nowhere do you say anything about close decision fights or split decisions. you are saying that if there is a decision, then favor should go to the current champ.

therefore, um, actually, that is exactly what you said. :doh1:

P.S. never did I say that rampage lost all 5 rounds.:doh::doh:

Let's revisit what you misinterpreted in my post. I said

    1) I HATE when these decisions go to 5 rounds

    2) When there is back and forth domininance (not say the Rich Franklin v. Louiseau fight a few years back where Franklin dominated, but he broke his hand near the begining of the fight and was unable to really "finish' Louiseau off- their fight clearly was onesided in favor of Franklin) but when the fight is an essential draw, favor needs to be given to the champion.

Forests didn't really come in and dominate the fight, just look at the judges cards (except round 2) it was split decisions round after round. I'm sorry, but IMO, when there is a showing like that, Champion Retains the belt.

I hate seeing the switch of championships go through a decision. I'd rather see those guys fight 15 rounds than for judges to decided this crap. I'm still pissed.

Obviously, not ALL decisions should go to the preceeding champ. DUH. If judges unanimously score the care 50-45 across the board, then obviously the champ has to give up his belt. I'm saying in a decision THIS close, more consideration chould be give more toward the champion.

  2. that is rediculous. so if the champ loses all five rounds but it goes to a decision then he should be the winner? ludicrous.

Um, actually that's not at all what I was saying....luckily Hermag summed it up quite well for me.

    P.S. Rampage didn't lose all 5 rounds :doh1:

  3. Rewatched the fight, sober today. Still pissed and sad...but it looks like Round 2 domination by Forrest was the kicker in this match.

However, I maintain my position that I HATE, DECISIONS in title fights. Whenever there is a decision, favor has to be given to the current champ.

  4. keeastman, Rampage lost, it was close, closer than the judges cards but he lost. This is no where near what happened to Hamill

    SO Boooooo!

You have to have an overwhelming win to throw the champion from his seat. Forrest did not have that IMO. He won 2 out of the 5 rounds. Other rounds should have gone to Rampage as they were NOT overwhelming.

And Hamil got robbed. At least we agree with that.

  5. What the heck, I'll throw in my half-assed predictions for tonight...

    Joe Stevenson vs. Gleison Tibeau

Winner: Stevenson - 3nd round - Rear Naked Choke

    Tyson Griffin vs. Marcus Aurelio:

    Winner: Griffin - 3rd round - TKO

    Josh Koscheck vs. Chris Lytle:

    Winner: Koschek - 3nd Round - TKO

    Patrick Cote vs. Ricardo Almeida:

Winner: Almeida - 2nd round armbar. I just don't see Almeida standing up with Cote...and I hope he submits the holy hell out of that Canadian :D

    Rampage vs. Forrest Griffin:

Winner: Rampage - I can't decide between a first round KO or a Unanimous decision. I'll go with 2nd round KO.

  6. Was anyone else wondering why the hell CB Dolloway likes to lay in people's guards?

Yeah, my fiance has wrestled against CB's team a ton and he couldn't figure out the fight either. He couldn't figure out why CB was fighting the way he was...at all. I mean, the first fight he gassed out. We figured he'd clean up his training before the next fight. But then he gets caught in an armbar again? WTF? Matt was just sitting there like WTF??? And I was laughing.

Pretty good night for MMA if you ask me. I'm so sick of Joe Rogan though. Everytime there's a fighter he's got a man crush on he all but blows the guy the entire fight. Seriously, why didn't he just get on his knees and service Diego Sanchez? The Italian dude not only showed some serious heart and chin but he caught Diego several times. IMO the fight could have went either way and by no stretch of the imagination was Diego in complete control of that fight. I'm just so sick of Rogan, he does this **** every fight. He picks his favorites and even when they're getting their asses kicked he finds a way to stroke them.

Rogan's a drunk jackass most of the time...seriously, he's drunk at most of these fights.

Did anyone else see the Diego profile at the beginning of the night? He looked like a gay matador...not that that's bad or anything...but it was hilarious!!!!

  7. You kind of did. I've been trying to forget what you posted all week. Still wish I hadn't read it, but oh well.

I thought you posted that Tim was going to win so I kept expecting him to catch CB until half way through the third when knew he was done.

I'm sorry Sebowski. Next time I'll make sure I post a spoiler warning if I have any inside info. :)

  8. Dana this today may be the biggest day in UFC history. Not sure if he means he has another announcement, and/or the craziness that is suppose to happen on TUF.

I'm sorry, I didn't give the spoiler warning when I posted about TUF a few pages back. I hope I didn't ruin it for anyone...:doh1: Sorry.

  9. You are wise and diplomatic, I retract my previous statement.

Thanks, I really didn't intend to offend or demean you with any of my posts. I respect all you guys who train in wrestling and MMA.

    Hige news here guys

UFC is planning an event for Spike TV on July 19th.

Dana wants to screw Affliction as much as possible.

Proposed main event is Wanderlei vs. Vera at 205.

Haha, I am not surprised in the least with this. People may have differing opinions on Dana, but the dude's not stupid.

  10. If you could stop picking apart my posts like I don't train Muay Thai, BJJ, & MMA, and am not an avid fan of the sport, that would be great. I know who Silva, Franklin, Hendo & GSP are. I wasn't talking about them. You're not telling me anything new.

I'm sorry I seemed to offend you somehow. I understand you train in the sport, that's fine. Just b/c you train doesn't mean you automatically know everything about the in's and outs of MMA's place in pop-culture. Just like just b/c my fiancee fights and wrestles doesn't automatically make me an expert. I was just disagreeing with your assertion that MMA hasn't broken into the main stream simply b/c of bad antics by fringe fighters.

I think it's because normal people don't understand the technique that comes into play so it strengthens their a preconcieved notion that this is a brawl. Honestly, I think it's going to be extremely difficult to change the mindset of these types of people.

For example, members of my family like my mom and dad thought we were friggin nuts when we started watching MMA/UFC in the 90's. They maintained their hard stance against it until my sister married a guy that trained in BJJ and I started dating a guy who wrestled and fought several MMA boughts. They see how they train, how athletic they are, and now they see the precise technique that is involved. It took them personally knowing people involved in the sport, hearing about their training, and watching their matches to get them to figure things out. Average person middle-age or higher doesn't have that experience and I think it's going to take that age group's support for the sport to become mainstream. I think a lot of them already have the sport written off and it will be difficult to change their mindset.

I agree that guys doing stupid crap on TUF or other antics outside the sport by a few of the idiotic fighters does not help further the sport, I just disagree that that is the primary reason it hasn't gone mainstream.
