  1. I'm just proud to be a Bullets fan again regardless of the outcomes.  I don't watch all of the games but I still **** and moan when lose/ win and when such and such is not performing up their capabilities.

I am admittedly a Wizards bandwaggoner this year.  I following them only casually during the regular season, but Bullet Fever is back and I've been watching this team in the playoffs.

So can someone explain why Otto Porter was so buried on the bench this year? I know he was hurt early on, but he never seemed to get any significant playing time at all even when healthy.  His PT was so scarce I wondered whether he was written off by management as a draft mistake ala Jan Vesely.

    What gives?

Wittman does have not have a propensity towards playing rookies... it was all in for Playoffs.

  2. Beal last night. Nene and Porter a little before that, as part of a package for Iman Shumpert and Tyson Chandler. Gortat should be allowed to walk and replaced with Emeka Okafor and Jordan Hill.

And yet people will defend geezers like Andre Miller and Al Harrington with a passion when they play like ass, laughing off Harrington's cringe inducing shooting when they'll immediately blast Beal for missing jumpers a little strong after curling off a screen--difficult shots.

No I think Wall has finally earned pretty wide spread respect. So, two more bad games before they call for him to get benched.

But if RealGM had its way last year, Wall would have been traded for Kyle Lowry, or really any old package of journeymen players that came along.

This year it's mostly Beal, Nene, and Porter getting cast aside.

I stay away from RealGM... you should to :)

  3. Came across a decent nickname idea for Wall. Posting elsewhere about the game, a fan of another team asked why Wall doesn't do the Dougie anymore. A Wiz fan replied, "Because he grew up." People responded negatively to this. So I posted, "I don't know why people aren't liking this, Wall is all business now." a Bucks fan replied, "Like Wall Street."

Simple but I think that might be my favorite yet. Wall Street is all business.

Wall Street is real slick homie...

  4. Yeah such a terrible bungling of the PG spot. Maynor and a second year player option. LOL. Then Destino is right, waiving Marshall without even giving him a look is ridiculous in hindsight.

That means that 1.) they were ****sure about Maynor to the point where they didn't even consider more PG depth as potentially useful,

2.) They chose to keep Singleton rather than be bothered evaluating him.

And now this dumb trade for a 37 year old player that's owed money next year. Jesus.

How do you hold out hope for this franchise with EG at the helm?

Exactly what I was saying about Vesely as well when he goes to Denver... this franchise will forever more be in purgatory :(

  5. I think you trade Ariza if it brings back a good player the team needs that is at least as good as Ariza is right now. Other than that, you have to keep him. Him and Gortat for Monroe would be great as an example... It won't happen but that's an example.

I still do not see what is so special about Monroe other than the fact he's a hometown brethren just like Otto...

We need all the scoring options on this team that we can gather.

  6. A few things make me worried about holding on to ariza

    1.  It's a contract year

    2.  His age

    3.  Logjam @ the 3

All that being said, his stock will NEVER be higher than what it is right now.  Never.  I'd be exploring all options if I was EG.

I have no problem with anything you said.

I still would not trade him though.  The chemistry that this team has right now is absolutely insane and that is at the fortune of our very own All-star in Wall.  There are not that many teams in the league right now with Wall's potential nor his propensity to break down the open floor to give his teammates open looks.

I think Ariza will be very mindful this offseason... EG should make no moves just yet especially with how Wittman's loves to rotate his players in and out of the line-ups...

  7. Peter talked about it in the offseason, there is more contact allowed around the basket and on jump shots than ever.  I think the officiating is correcting the ease with which you should be able to get to the basket following the institution of defensive three seconds, the relaxation of illegal defense calls, and the banning of hand checking.

If you're a slasher, there will be several times a night you will get mugged on a shot and not get a call.  But at least you can't hand check players all of the way down the court any more.  That really sucked.  I hate seeing that in the college game too, where the ball handlers are much worse.

Who was infamous for the hand checking before mid-court that got the rule implemented in the first place? Was it Marc Jackson?

Lack of scoring is going to kill the Bulls.  Didn't realize it until last night, but the loss of Nate Robinson is going to catch up with them at some point.

Did you see the chart compiled of all of the players that were a part of the backcourt with Rose dating back to 2000... talk about a rude awakening it's been for Rose.

  8. I would put CP3/Rose/Rondo/Westbrook/Curry (assuming good health) over Wall.

Parker is better than him now, but he has a lot of miles. Not sure what to make to D-Will to be honest.

Wall & Irving are on the same plane IMO, both have extreme talent, but in different areas. I like Wall's potential, but Kyrie's floor is higher.

Lillard & Conley are a notch below.

If Wall comes close to his potential, he might not take a backseat to anyone on that list.

What do you mean by Kyrie's ceiling is higher? In what way...

  9. I feel that same way. It sucks to always think "next year will be our year".

    ---------- Post added February-12th-2013 at 07:40 AM ----------

I honestly think he works well within the flow of the offense. I really wish we could trade some of the players on this team because you don't get much experience at the bottom of the rotation getting no play. We could be in the market to upgrade our talent level now that we've emerged with a consistent 6/7 man rotation.

The question is what sucker team out there would give up valuable assets for the trash that Crawford and Booker are. I am saying this politely but I have never been a Crawford fan. Booker was always a one trick pony...

  10. If Leonsis cleaned house and hired you as GM to architect the rebuild with the imperative you need to start being competitive by 2014, what would you do to the roster?

Let's go ahead and assume you've hired competent scouts, assistants, medical staff & trainers, etc. plus a good young head coach out of a quality Western team like San Antonio. The whole culture is rebooted.

Also, start from an acceptance that your statement I underlined is true.

It's fricking tough. Where do you begin?

Now that is the hard part in itself...

  11. Maybe.

I think Wittman is already quick to hook guys. Look at our 15 man rotations...

What we need is a real coach who can instill a real NBA rotation and heirarchy and structure to the team.

We need a coach who won't be over-playing roster filler, bad journeymen vets over the young talent we need to be developing and instilling confidence and familiarity in.

You can not develop in the NBA on the bench. And LKB was right, you can not develop 8 guys at once. It just doesn't work.

We need to probably cut bait on most of our young guys, pick a few core ones to stick with, and then move forward with their development being priority #1. We are not a good enough organization to pull an OKC and have 8 young guys all figure out how to play together.

Trouble is, we have no FA drawing power. We're a laughing stock. The rest of the league peers into our situation every now and then and either laughs, or goes," good god that's a mess... put the lid back on that."

Also, I think OJ Mayo was a trade, not a FA.

It may suck to hear it, but it's the truth that we have no FA drawing power. This is a clown show that vets who expect to play good BBall and want to win at all would never, ever come here. And those are the type of Vets we need to surround our developing players with. I'm talking about mid to low tier decent FAs. Would we ever be able to sign Chris Kaman or Elton Brand? Would Ramon Sessions? Would Andrei Kirilenko or Brandon Roy? Not for a second. Why would they?

So we can't even fill out our roster with desirable role players to fill in the cracks and help our young guy develop. Our attempts to force decent vets here through trades badly slanted against us have been abject failures. Ariza and Okafor were pretty crap. Nene has barely played.

We can't make open shots consistently.

We got bottom of the barrel FAs and young guys with no confidence and no scoring instincts, no real understanding of offense.

And I seriously don't know if this draft class can even help us, even if we got the #1 overall pick. The best guy in the class probably won't even play BBall this year and the other guys are defensive types and huge long term projects.

I feel the John Wall era falling apart. I honestly don't know if it can realistically be saved. Nothing has broken our way and we haven't helped ourselves at all by leaving incompetent people at GM and HC.

I think Beal will be alright. I'm not worried about his development being off track yet. Rookies usually suck at shooting. He's just got no feel yet. He'll get better at that in time. I like the effort on the defensive end he's been putting in. Still getting burned, but still fighting through screens and contesting shots and he's been getting more effective on the ball.

Beal and Wall are the least of our issues IMO.

How would you all specifically fix our mess. We're playing fantasy GM, let's just assume EG and Wittman are fired and are replaced with good people. All of us want that, let's get that out of the way.

Alright, now assume we're getting the first, second, or third overall pick. I think this is likely. We're obviously the overwhelming favorite for the first overall pick right now, and assuming that, we'll pick no worse than third.

What specific roster moves would you try and make to fix our mess?

Your post deserves alot of praise and the bolded is what has made me turn the television off on this team each time.

I hear Wittman calling this team out for the simplest **** that they should be drilling in practice?!

Oh, and a GM and HC model... how about plucking away at the Bobcats squad. They've already won two games I believe and are on the rise. How teams keep turning lucky ahead of our very own Wizards is beyond me?!
