  1. yep once it was though that Mayweather would be in jail, he proposed a 4th fight with Marquez on May 5th to Pacquiao.

Which doesn't erase the controversy of the previous fights, if Pac does fight Marquez on May 5th what will it really prove? Arum knows that Mayweather would expose Pac.

    Dan Rafael

Arum sounded very surprised by the news of Mayweather's continuance. Says now Manny "likely" to go in June. Didnt sound interested in Floyd.

No surprise there. I thought he was looking for May before this continuance was granted. :ols:, just proves that Arum is full of it.

    :helmet:

  3. Bob Arum doesn't want to expose Manny to the beating Floyd would give him. Arum spent months taking Mayweather to task for "ducking" Pacquaio. Now with this stroke of good luck and incredible good fortune given to Floyd, Arum would've been in the prime position to take advantage. Arum never wanted Mayweather to fight Pac, let's just face it. Arum will manipulate Pacquaio into believing he needs to fight Marquez for a 4th fight. Even though Pac won the first three.

  4. Oh no, I think they easily can, but to say that no matter what he was winning even if he got knocked down 100 times? That's just a really extreme way to state things. I realize judges can be gotten to and convinced to nudge scoring on close rounds, wouldn't argue with that....this isn't 1923 though.

Of course I was exaggerating, but there is no way Pacquaio should have a score of 116-112 over Marquez.

    :helmet:

  5. If you honestly think that, you shouldn't watch boxing anymore. That would simply mean the fights are totally rigged and should be ignored.

    ---------- Post added November-13th-2011 at 01:08 AM ----------

Just to be clear, I don't really want to defend this that much because it was a very close fight. It could have gone the other way and I actually wouldn't have been that bothered....but to see people act like JMM dominated and got robbed seems a little extreme.

Just so I'm clear, you don't think judges can be corrupted? I'm not saying JMM dominated this fight, I posted that at best he won a split decision. But one judge scored the fight 116-112, are you kidding me? At worse, this fight should be a draw but not a majority decision for either fighter.

    :helmet:

  6. JMM could've knocked down Pacquaio 100x and they still were going to give it to Pacquaio. It's really sad too because at worst this fight was a draw. JMM should've been announced as the split decision winner but that Mayweather fight against Pacquaio took precedence. How the hell could a judge score 116-112, what fight was he watching?

BTW, if Pacquaio fights Mayweather like he fought Marquez then Mayweather will retire undefeated.

  7. You're right, I did get sidetracked. Again, I'm not big fan of Arum, but I'm for anything that will get these guys in the ring and if that means shaming someone, so be it. They were actually talking about this this mornong on ESPN's First Take.

I'm sure Skip Baseless agreed with Bob Arum without knowing Arums' history.

    :helmet:

  8. I can't believe so many of you have fallen for Mayweathers, "take the test" ploy. I'm no huge fan of Arum, but if shaming Mayweather into finally fighting Pac, then so be it. The only way May fights Pac is if Pac gets old.

One thing you have to understand with guys like Mayweather is that perception is everything with the people he represents. The hip hop generation. More than money or anything, it's all about perception. He'd rather have the hip hop generation believe he's the best, than going out and proving it. If he loses, he's DONE. He'll lose all credibility with that group and would probably NEVER get it back. That's what Mayweather is afraid of. Mark my words, if Mayweather was confident that he'd beat Pacquiao, he'd been done fought him by now.

I actually somewhat agree with you, but this has nothing to do Hip Hop or the generation of Hip Hop. It's about Arum. Arum says a lot of bs that nobody is able to correct him on. I want the fight to happen for boxing's sake. I could care less about either man's legacy, the sport is bigger than both. My post was about what Arum had to say. Not the "take the test ploy" as you described. I think boxing needs this fight to happen and unfortunately Arum will make a huge profit if it does happen.

If anyone truly and I mean truly believe what nonsense Bob Arum is saying then I got some great land in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean to sell you. Arum is one of the biggest bigots and racist in this sport. He'll continue to goad Mayweather and talk all his crap but Arum is nothing more than a pile of scum and human waste. Arum has said many racist things in the past, his comments on MMA being the most recent.

To understand the comments that Arum makes, you have to understand the man. He's a disgusting individual that unfortunately makes a lot of money off that backs of people stepping into the ring.

It is so easy to call a man a coward when it is not you that is stepping into that ring.

    :helmet:

, this link further explains the disgusting nature of Arum.
  10. They may lose, but it won't be because they switched trainers, particularly Dawson who has gone through a few trainers already. Steward is a great trainer, but I think his best training days are well behind him. He's more of a mercenary trainer riding who he thinks is a hot hand nowadays, he hasn't raised a fighter from the bottom up in a quite a while (his Andy Lee experiment failed).

Agreed but Lee failed himself, that wasn't all Steward. Cotto was always a great fighter but until Steward taught him footwork, he was nothing more than a statue that punch really hard and pick you apart.

I also agree about Dawson, that's his biggest problem. The switching of trainers has always been a detriment to many boxers. One of the reasons Floyd has remained undefeated is his trainer, Roger.

    :helmet:

  11. Cotto and Dawson will lose both of their fights because they are separated from a great manager in Steward. Steward is one of the great trainers and students of the game, and they'll both suffer the consequences of his absence. I'm a big fan of both but they are crazy to let him go.

  12. None of that excuses the behavior of the ref. I don't care about Ortiz or Mayweather because lets face it Ortiz was going to lose this fight. The ref needs to be encouraged to retire immediately.

He may not retire but he won't be the ref anymore for the big fights.

    :helmet:

  13. As much as I hated the ending, Ortiz brought it all on himself. One thing that'll never change is that Ortiz started the chain of controversial events. In any fight, MMA or Boxing or whatever, you never take your eyes off the opponent.

  14. Alot of what Floyd does is hype, but the stuff between him & his pop is genuine. Alot of bad history between the two, they've tried to patch things up at times, but I doubt they ever completely heal the wounds in their relationship.

Yeah I know about history between the two, and I really think it sucks. But Floyd does know how to work the media. He loves to play the villain role in everything. I just hope Sr. and Jr. can patch things up, I finally saw a clip of that fight and it looked something silly turned serious.

    :helmet:

  15. Did anyone see 24/7 this past weekend? I've been hearing about a huge blowup in the Mayweather camp between father and son. I know this is probably hype to make Floyd look even more like a bad guy than who he really is.

    :helmet:

  16. I expect Haye to come early and threaten with one or two shots, but then Wlad's jab will set the tone for the rest of the fight. Haye doesn't have the best chin in the world to begin with. Haye comes out fast, Wlad keeps him at bay and toys with him during the middle rounds and knocks him out late

Man I hope you're wrong. It's getting tougher and tougher looking at either Klitschko fight. They are so boring. Seriously though, in the stare down in the ring, I hope Klitschko says "I must break you".

    :helmet:

  17. you actually want to see them fight each other?

It would be horrible fight. Neither one of them would pull the trigger. They're actually really close brothers from all I've read. It would be 12 rounds of the lightest jabs you've ever seen from 250+ men.

I don't really like to watch them fight, but I almost feel sorry for them in a way. They're skill and accomplishments will be written off because of the incredibly weak era they happened to fight in. Their size and skill level alone would've given alot of all-time HW greats hell (particularly Vitali because he has an iron chin)

They did do a simulated fight in a movie, that I can't remember the name of. But your right, which is why this fight is so important. I hope Haye wins by knockout. It probably won't happen but I can at least hope.

    :helmet:

  18. This Saturday is the most important fight in David Hayes' career. For over 2 years, he's talked smack from London to Las Vegas. Not many people are giving him a chance to win against Klitschko. I hope David Haye wins but the odds are not looking good. I really do hope this fight goes the distance because of how long it's been building. Max Kellermans' sit down with both of them was very intense. This is going to be epic. If Haye loses, he'll lose everything.

    :helmet:

  19. Mayweather Jr. vs. Ortiz is the silliest fight that Mayweather could take. No matter the outcome, Mayweather Jr. keeps dancing around what would be the most competitive, money-making bout in his now tainted career. This is coming from a Mayweather apologist. I'm so disappointed that this fight is happening.

I may be wrong, but Mayweather may be trying to set up a unifying bout with Pac. But if this fight were to happen, it wouldn't be about belts but history. Mayweather will always have an asterisk on his record if he doesn't fight Pac. That's with or without belts involved.

    :helmet:

  20. Pacquiao-Mayweather is one of those dream matches that'll never occur. I think both fighters against each other would be a classic for years to come but it'll never happen. For what ever reasons, this mega fight will not happen.

Pacquiaos' thrashing of Margarito shouldn't have happened. Margarito was over matched from the opening bell. He had no shot against Pacquiao. Speed beats power everytime. There is no way around that. But a fighter with the rare combo of speed and power is a wonderful thing, and Floyd and Pac have that. No matter what people may think about Floyd, you can't deny his ability. Pacquiao is a great fighter and his legacy is intact. For the sake of this sport though, this fight needs to happen. Both men can really solidfy themselves as legends if they met in the ring.

  21. Haye defeats Ruiz by 9th Round TKO.

Finally, we get a decent heavyweight fight. I'm glad Ruiz came to fight and not do a lot of hugging/clinching as he usually does. He showed a lot of heart, but he took some hard punches from Haye. Definitely, a good stoppage. Didn't think it would last that long after watching the 1st round. I like Haye, but he needs to work on his defense, especially keeping his hands up. Either of the Klitschko brothers will KO him quick, if they ever fight.

Good fight by both Ruiz and Haye. I wonder if we'll ever get to see a good heavyweight fight on the cable networks???

Speaking of, do you happen to know if anyone is rebroadcasting the fight? I'm so mad I missed it and no way was I paying to watch B-Hop and Roy.
