1. Alright cool. What should we bring?

Also, do you think security is going to try and enforce that people sit in their designated sections or will we all be able to stand together?

As long as you have a barra ticket we will be fine.

I think we're bringing bbq chicken, so whatever you guys want to add will be good :)

See, if you'd just take over bars like normal folk, you could just name one to all meet pre-match.

Simples. :pfft:

Hail.

But then where would we put our grill???

2.

Here is a map I made. Are you guys just further down the same road?

ugh, my map sucks. The large square is the Barra tailgate. The smaller square is where the tailgate is (or used to be)

When it was really hot out we moved further down to be under a tree for shade. I'm not sure which spot we'll be in Saturday. I guess whichever has more space. So either the one you marked, or just past the Ultras tailgate.

3. If you walk all the way back to the barra tailgate, make a left and follow the the road that runs behind the parking lot (and cornhole) for 100 yards you will see the tailgate on your right. Its set up on the grass right in front of the river. If you walk to the District Ultra tailgate, you've walked 50-100 yards too far!

Haven't you been to a game since we moved further down the way? Last few times we were past the Ultras tailgate :P

4. I tried last time but I didn't know where to go and no one responded I asked on here :ols:

I'm usually lingering around the RVA Barra Brava(or cornhole occasionally) tents since all of us watch the DCU game down here together.

But yeah just point me in the right direction. I probably been walking right by you guys.

We didn't go to the last couple games. Lately we've been hanging out up past the District Ultras tailgate bc that was the only area with any shade back when it was hot as hell this summer. I can shoot you a PM later with a map and stuff.

5. For anyone trying to go to the DCU playoff game, the home game has been moved to this Saturday, Nov 3 at 8pm, and the away game will be on Nov 7. The change is bc Red Bull Arena and surrounding area are without power.

Bye-bye home field advantage. Hope this at least means more people can make it out to the home game tho.

6. Do we at least know what week it will be?

Man, tickets are only $30 on the barra site for members. I may have to make an appearance no matter what.

A lot of people over at big soccer are speculating a Wednesday game. Does that mean Halloween or the following week?

EDIT: here is what I saw over there:

What I heard from my rep today was:

· Finish 4th - Wed., Oct 31

· Finish 3rd - Sat., Nov 3 or

· Finish 1/2 - Wed., Nov 7

Take that with a large pinch of salt.

http://www.dcunited.com/news/2012/10/dc-uniteds-playoff-picture-0

Wild Card Match (Oct. 31 or Nov. 1)

Eastern Conference Semifinal, Leg 1 (Nov. 3 or Nov. 4)

Eastern Conference Semifinal, Leg 2 (Nov. 7 or Nov. 8)

Those are all the possible dates. And I've heard the same as the guy you referenced, that depending on final standings we'd play at home 31st, 3rd, or 7th.

7. I'm just waiting to see when the date is. It really depends whether or not it conflicts with some school and family stuff that's coming up. Is there any chance it would be scheduled for a week day?

Probably will be a week day.

8. My suggestion is to use the top 4-6 spots in the Gold Cup or the 6(or top 4) teams from the previous Hex qualifying to determine which CONCACAF teams get to go Copa America to play with the Conmbol each Copa America tournament. It give 6 teams from our federation a chance to go and US should definitely be one of those spots.
can't wait:

You guys coming to the game? We'll know after Saturday when they're playing.

9. I assume since US and Mexico automatically qualify they'll make groups with leaders US,Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina.

-----

A joint tourney was exactly what I'm suggesting. Make Copa America equivalent to the Euro. Gold Cup could become a secondary tourney. Honestly Gold Cup is only relevant for getting to the Confederations Cup. Think about the attention the Euro got in the US. Imagine if we were apart of tournament like that every couple of years? Combine that with the World Cup and Gold Cups occasionally and you have constant exposure.2016 will be great for soccer exposure in the US but we can't just host the tourney and then that's it. We need to get momentum going and use 2016 and beyond to get things really going.

I'm saying they are equivalent tournaments in theory as UEFA is the equivalent of CONCACAF or CONMEBOL. UEFA just happens to be the home to most of the world's popular and historically successful teams. I agree though that a combined tournament would be fun. However we can't even dominate CONCACAF, I'd hate to see us up against the likes of Brazil and Argentina on the regular :(

10. Screaming Eagles and Barra Brava are masters of making beer last;)

Btw no one mentioned the US finalizing the details for hosting the 2016 Copa America. Great chance to reach out to our South American bros. Personally I'd love the Americas to have a real tournament(Like a Euro) and then have the Gold Cup secondary.

What do you want them to do other than the Gold Cup? I thought that was CONCACAF's equivalent to the Euro? Or maybe you're saying a joint CONCACAF-CONMEBOL tournament?

It is pretty awesome news about Copa America though.

11. Absolutely made up for you guys. That was more than worth staying up for last night.

See the season out with another win in Chicago, and ride that momentum through the playoff's all the way to a 5th MLS Cup.

GO DCU!

Hail.

And of course it had to be a guy from across the pond to get the game winner ;)

Can't wait to go to my first DCU playoff game!!!!

12. DCU goooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DCU to the playoffs for the first time in 5 years!! VAMOS!!!

**** yea!!! So mad I wasn't there. Couldn't even watch the game. Had to follow on Twitter.

Home playoff game here we come!!!!!!

13. I have played with both bsf and ren...they both have some skill

emphasis on some :)

Talking of ren, she owes me like 500 beers. (Least that's how I remember it. :pfft: ). I have it in writing. :D

Yup, we defo need to get that done.

Hail.

You gotta make it to RFK first ;)

14. Mostly they're the former soccer star back in their teen years. Will flop like crazy if beaten.

Speaking of this. Has anyone noticed that 95% of guys who play rec league soccer as adults "would have played in college if only they hadn't gotten injured in high school"?

15. Merdinho Dos

Refuses to pass the ball to anyone without a foreign accent and generally struts about the park with a smug sense of superiority despite the fact that his country sits roughly 170 spots below yours in the FIFA rankings. Wears a Barcelona jersey. Sucks big-time.

Need to add that this guy usually comes to the game with gel in his hair.

boysetsfire and I have encountered Merdinho Dos many times in our pickup days. In one instance, the guy was on our team and literally came up and tackled the ball away from boysetsfire at midfield.
