  1. I really think we can't lose sight of the big picture. Next year's draft is stacked compared to this one. I'd look to get our 2 or 3 then. I really don't want to trade Mcgee or the 6th for the 2nd just because I don't really think there is a big difference between the talent in those two spots. If I were GM, I'd stand pat at 6 and 18. Add the best player that fits our scheme at each spot. Take our lumps next year but keep developing our young nucleus and hope to get a lottery pick next year.

Next year, we'll have a much better idea of what our team really is in terms of what roles Wall, Crawford, Young, Booker, Seraphim and Blache can really fill. Hopefully if Kanter falls we take him and hopefully add a Gilchrist/Barnes/Quincy Miller next year, when there is a draft with more talent and options.

If Mcgee were in this draft, I'd put him in front of a lot of the players expected to go in the top 10. Ernie has to consider that and thankfully he's not going to move Mcgee.

    Next year

    1. Wall/Crawford

    2.Young/Crawford/18th Pick

    3.Lewis/18th Pick/Booker

    4.Kanter/Blache/Booker

    5. McGee/Seraphim.

That's a young, 9 man rotation there. I'd be comfortable with that as our starting lineup going into '11.

    2nd Year

    1. Wall/Crawford

    2.Young/Crawford/2011 18th Pick

    3. Gilchrist/Barnes/Booker

    4.Kanter/Booker

    5. McGee/Seraphim

This would be a team that would contend for an Eastern Conference Finals with 2 or 3 years IMO.

  2. I'm not sure he won't be a star.

I can see him being a Caron Butler.

Butler/Wallace/ Marion without a goofy j. My favorite attribute of his is his motor and his ability to guard multiple positions.

You can do a lot of stuff with Jason Kidd because he is Jason Kidd. He's become a deadly three point shooter. He's always had a great post game. He is still remarkably good at creating a decent shot when the shot clock is expiring. Basically' date=' the Mavs can let Barea do Barea stuff for 12 seconds and then run a real offense for 12 seconds, because Kidd is still Kidd. Asking a 20 year old Wall and a rookie to do that seems to be a reach.[/quote']

Agreed. The Mavs are an anomaly due to the fact that their PG's aren't really traditional PG's. At this point in his career, Jkidd really is used for his 3point shooting and defense. During the stretch of these games, he wasn't even taking the ball up the floor. Barea and Terry also aren't prototype PG's. The mavs works because of the personnel they have and it just so happens this kind of lineup is lethal. Wall is your prototype defensive, facilitator. Floor spacing would be horrible with him and Kemba Walker or another PG, due to a lack of a consistent shot.

  3. [/color]BTW, watching the Mavs play with three good guards has me thinking: I actually wouldn't mind taking Kemba Walker if he's there at 6. With Wall, Walker, and Crawford we'd have a lethal 3 guard set. Wall is tall for a PG too, so a Wall/Walker backcourt wouldn't be terrible defensively. Walker is a fierce competitor and winner. No he may not fill a direct "need" but hell when you win 20 games or whatever you need talent wherever you can get it.

None of those 3 have a consistant J. I'd be happier with a guy like Klay Thompson at 18.

  4. I think Leonsis' next target is Blatche. Could we possibly package the 18th pick and Blatche for a Vet or a lower round pick? I think we could move him in like they did with Arenas and Baron Davis. I know we would have to get a crappy contract in return, but I personally feel that getting rid of Blache would be addition by subtraction at this point and would really help this young team gel. He would easily be replaced by Kawhi leonard.

Imagine Wall running the break with a healthy Rashard, Javale, and Kawhi. That's a big, fast frontcourt.

  5. When I look at the holes, I see a need for a perimeter defender and lights out shooters. John Wall's at his best when he's penetrating. I'd love to see him kicking it out to Rashard Lewis and someone like Klay Thompson, maybe not a starter, but fills a role. I think Leonard would be perfect for the Wiz. Lock down defender, tough rebounder. Can run the court and will eventually get a jumper. If we could get some combination of Leonard/Thompson and/or singleton, I'd be happy.

    Wall, Crawford

    Klay Thompson/Crawford/FA

    Rashard Lewis/Khawi Leonard

    Seraphim/Booker/Blatche?

    McGee/Seraphim

  6. Wear the exact same **** you wore last year if you can remember

We need all the luck we can get

I might even wear my size 2 youth Juwan Howard !

Last year I was at beach week and got absolutely wasted during the lottery. When we got the pick I ran across the room, tripped, fell down a flight of stairs and put my head through a door at the base of the stairs. Gonna be hard to replicate that, but I'll try

  7. My draft:

1; Derrick Williams (don't know why anyone hasn't mentioned him yet. Dude is a STUD) Sullenger/Barnes/Jones

    2. Either Morris Twin/ Preferably Marcus. (Ernie did quite well to get this pick)

    I'd be a happpy man

I dunno if you guys have insider:

Here is the who should each rookie study:

    John Wall: Chris Paul

Wall has physical gifts that Paul could only dream of -- he's faster, taller and longer. Imagine Paul, the world's best point guard, in Wall's body. Frightening. Which is why the Wizards rook needs to study Paul, who is the master of the "slow is better" dribble game.

Nobody reads the game like Paul, who goes fast only when the moment calls for it, as opposed to Wall, who plays at the same supersonic speed most of the game, which gets him into trouble frequently. Wall has "world's best point guard" talent, but he'll need to play a lot more like CP3 to get there.

    Jordan Crawford: Jason Terry

Crawford has been unleashed in Washington and is proving to be a scorer we should follow. I don't expect him to be the team's long-term answer as the starting 2, but a sixth-man role with the green light to score is a good bet.

He also has some passing talent, although he doesn't often employ it. Over time, he'll have to, and that's where Terry fits in. The 2008-09 Sixth Man of the Year balances the act of scoring, passing and leading off the bench better than anyone else, and everyone likes playing with him. Even when he has to shoot a lot, his teammates know he's making the best reads available. He's a very cerebral player who handles the ball extremely well.

Crawford is longer than Terry and should be tough to guard off the dribble, but knowing who and when to attack is key

If Crawford can be our sixth man Terry-esque scorer, Nick Young is expendable and Ernie looks a lot smarter for getting him and a pick.

I'm really starting to like the direction of this team: Wall, Crawford, Seraphim, Booker, Two first rounders this year.

  8. Which somehow he was able to get the team to 4 consecutive playoffs which hadn't happend in 15 years.

Those appearances are overrated. We were barely .500 and playing in the super weak (at the time) Eastern Conference.

He traded the 5th for Randy Foye and Mike Miller and threw Gilbert under the bus to cover his own ass because his masterpiece (Saunders Gil/Foye/Caron/Antawan/Brandon) blew up.

A monkey could've picked John Wall

    /debate about Ernie

  9. For the Dumars supporters, one word: Darko.

Grunfeld's been better since Ted has taken over. Wall was a no brainer. No one knew about Seraphim, so we bash him, but he has equal the upside as Ibaka and could end up like a Nene type player once he gets some polish. Booker's never going to be a star, but he'll be consistent and that's hard to get at the tail of the first round. If he can be a Maxiell type of guy, occasionally start and be a great 7th man, that's solid.

I just wish we never gave Blache the money. He's a dope and plays pick up basketball. I hope we get either Terrance Jones or Jared Sullenger in the Draft. Nick Young is a scorer, not much else, but he can shoot from wherever, pair him up with a defensive athletic swing man, and we're on to something. Here's to getting more ping pong balls

    Future lineups

    Wall

    Young

    Terrance Jones

    Blache - Find a Replacement/Booker

    Seraphim

    Wall

    Young

Rashard (until his deal is up)/Blache

    Sullenger

    Seraphim

I agree with Vishal and on the whole, Ernie has done a below average job with trades (the 5 for foye and miller, trading caron, deshawn, brandon and antawn for no young parts), signings (Gil's horrendous contract, blache) and drafting (Pecherov instead of Rondo, can't really blame him for blache. He's still around and that's good for a second rounder). Those are the 3 main criteria for a GM and he hasn't done well in any category. His best move was Wall and any of us could've done that.

I'd want Pritchard. Portland was dumb to get rid of him
