You know what I never understood?  Why people refer to other people "a (insert name)"  I think Mel Kiper might have started it, and it's caught on.

"To pass up a Trent Dilfer when all you have is Jim Harbaugh. Gimme a break.  That's why the Colts are picking second in the draft every year." To which Bill Tobin responded, "who in the hell is Mel Kiper anyway?" And the modern draft was born.  (As an aside, Mel's just about never right on QBs.  He wasn't really right about Dilfer. Who, yeah, got a SB with the Ravens, but just about anybody could have played QB and won with that team.

But now all the draftniks are like, "You have a Drake Maye sitting there, you have to take him."  Or "If a Caleb Williams falls into your lap, you'd be crazy not to take him."

It's an unnecessary word to make yourself sound more intelligent and theatrical.

Just remove the word.  "To pass up Trent Dilfer when all you have is Jim Harbaugh."  That's all you need. You don't need the "a."  Drop it.

I don't know if it started before Mel or not, but I think it's his speech pattern and it's trickled through society.  And it drives me ****ing bananas.

  2. In 2011 the Lions were found guilty of tampering with Jarrad Page, they forfeited a 7th rounder and a swap of picks in the 5th with the Chiefs.

The  Chiefs forfeited a third-round pick in the 2016 draft and a sixth-round pick in the 2017 draft for tampering with Maclin.

Dolphins forfeited a first-round draft pick in 2023 and third-round pick in 2024 related with Brady and Peyton.

Man, that Wagner signing has me feeling all types of irrational optimism now. That's huge that a guy like that wants to play for us. Even on a one year deal. This could be his retirement tour and he chose us. That's just incredible.

  4. Walterfootball still listing us as the Redskins !

Redskins Redskins sign LB Bobby Wagner (1 year, $8.5 million): A- Grade
If this signing seems out of the blue because Bobby Wagner had spent his entire NFL career on the West Coast, remember that his former defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, is now the head coach in Washington.

Wagner is an obvious scheme fit for that reason. He’s also a huge upgrade. Between Wagner and Frankie Luvu, the Redskins are likely to have excellent linebacker play for the first time in a long while. There’s a chance that Wagner could fall off a cliff because of his age (34), but even if he does, it’s not like Washington is risking much on a 1-year deal.

    Washington Commanders

Armstrong is a proven perfect fit with new Commanders head coach Dan Quinn, who immediately helped him take his game to new heights upon arriving in Dallas three years ago. Washington could still stand to make another move at edge rusher, with Armstrong more a rotational piece than a top guy, but linebacker Frankie Luvu also adds another pass rush element.

Ekeler brings the pass-catching element to Washington, which lost Antonio Gibson in free agency to the New England Patriots. Ekeler’s pairing with Brian Robinson is a perfect complement of skills in the backfield.

The Washington Commanders join the New England Patriots as a team picking in the top three of the draft that probably doesn’t want a young player backing up a top draft pick, with Jacoby Brissett and Mariota now serving as bridges to the future. Mariota was the No. 2 overall pick back in 2015 and can now mentor the No. 2 pick in 2024. In addition, his athleticism and mobility, paired with a big arm, is the profile of quarterback Kliff Kingsbury likes to work with.

    PFF FREE AGENCY GRADE: A

Ekler, Luvu, Wagner. They have knocked free agency out of the park with impact players and culture shifters."

" Amazing considering we kept blaming Quinn for not wanting linebackers"

" Now we can more accurately speculate that Dan Q wanted wagner here but stephen was too cheap."

" Did we piss Wagner off For whatever reason, he does not want to play for us. Did we tell him we were gonna draft him, then do something stupid?

Surprised CY is so high on that list.

He's moving up as the ones before him are signed. I think he was ranked between 25 and 30 at the start of free agency.

He'll be visiting Saints, Titans and panthers.

Williams is a chain moving, run blocking monster. He doesn't need to be a field stretcher. He's been healthy most of his career and has to be game planned against, which opens Terry up and gets him on the second CB and able toi move around more.

Williams would be an excellent XWR for a rookie QB.

Agreed but I'm concern about his injuries. Ankles grade 1 to 3 in 2022, and torn ACL last year.

While they will certainly suffer for that strategy this season, next year they could be in line for a serious compensatory draft pick payday.

Given their cap situation and the probability that they will soon have to extend Dak’s contract and resign Parsons among others this is probably their best chess move.

Pokes fans are depressed, they're talking about how to get rid of Dak, trading him to the Bears, trading Parsons too !

"LOL. And then they praise Philly for spending a ton and filling holes.

This is a joke analysis. With each passing hour the Cowboys slide further and further into loser status."

I'm loving these FA signings so far.   Our team is already much improved from last season and we still have the draft upcoming.    Love it!

Probably the best bang for buck free agency !
