  1. I had Gil winning round 1 for sure, and then 2 and 3 I thought were in Gil's favor but not too convincingly. Before they announced the decision I thought Benson would win because Gil didn't do enough to "beat the champion" and "take the belt", and I expected a UD for Benson 48-47. Did not expect the SD.

  2. Well then... haha a lot of trades

Your score is: 3839 (Drafting Ability: A, Player Quality A, Future Draft Picks: N/A)

    Your Picks:

Round 3 Pick 9 (BUF): Bacarri Rambo, FS, Georgia (B+) (Hopefully starting FS)

Round 5 Pick 21: Adrian Bushell, CB, Louisville (A) (Depth/competition)

Round 5 Pick 29: Brennan Williams, OT, North Carolina (A) (Underrated RT backup)

Round 7 Pick 22: Bruce Taylor, ILB, Virginia Tech (A) (Injured LB gamble aka the Chase M. Pick)

  3. Not really "owned" but I figure some of us would watch this and get owned ourselves like I did haha

It's the extended trailer for a new horror game coming out. I'm actually extremely proud of myself for finishing the whole video. Also I didn't know where else to post this
  4. Game of Thrones for sure.

House of Cards has all intrigue and drama of Washington politics plus Kevin Spacey being awesome and having fun, and it's David Fincher's brainchild.

I started and finished all of BBC's Sherlock in one Sunday. Brilliantly written and a fantastic cast.

Last but definitely not the least, Downton Abbey is really interesting and classy as ****. Prequel to the Robert Altman movie Gosford Park.

Also to throw some oldies in there, if you haven't gotten into Arrested Development then you should do it, especially with the new season being released all at once on Netflix in May. Also, FIREFLY. It's only 1 season, but it's my comfort show along with AD. I can watch either and be 100% happy.

  5. Condit cracking up when Diaz says "wolf tickets" along with GSP's confused face, priceless. And then GSP asks Condit what "wolf tickets" means and then gets pissed off about it enough to say something. Hendricks got a single question and Diaz didn't even give a ****, he just started talking hahaha.

I agree with others on here that Diaz just moves in circles, getting upset and then apologizing and saying GSP is the best fighters, and then getting pissed again since "who knows how they test here" *mic drop* *lean back*.

Also maybe it's just me but GSP looks smaller than Diaz. I know GSP has a lot of lower body muscle and Diaz does not. GSP's also always been super cut

  6. UFC 158 Georges St. Pierre vs. Nick Diaz: The Achilles Heel of Stockton's Pride

I would hope that it is pretty much common knowledge by now that if a fighter chooses to brawl with Nick or Nate Diaz, he is going to have an awful time from bell to bell or until he drops from the combined effects of exhaustion and 300 punches over every inch of his upper body. Yet time after time, we see fighters fall into the same traps—doing well in a punching match early and then simply be ground down by the volume punching and durability of the Diaz brothers.

The Diaz siblings get hit a lot and they get dropped or stunned with strikes in the early goings of a great many of their fights. Someone will eventually knock one of them out if they stick around long enough, but being the first to do so is not a suitable strategy for a fighter to hang his hat on.

I am hard pressed to think of fighters whose weaknesses and strengths are so clear to anyone who has studied their bouts and yet continue to dominate world class opposition. In case you haven't followed their careers throughout I shall briefly explain, calling on previous analyses I have written including one from before Nick fought Carlos Condit, the great strengths and flaws in the striking game of the Diaz brothers.

The topics which we shall cover today are the Diaz brother's (and more specifically Nick's):

    Volume punching strategy

Head placement, parrying and hand control

Stance and it's importance to reach

    Mediocre footwork and ringcraft

    Very interesting Jack Slack article.

GSP and Diaz GO AT IT in the conference call. Very very worth listening to haha. The main **** starts after 25 min or so. Actually it's more just Nick going off and GSP responding too but it's entertaining as hell.

  7. ^ I'm glad they cleared up the Nick Diaz fiasco. Hopefully things go smoothly until fight night. Honestly I won't fully believe Diaz/GSP is happening until they lock the Octagon and Bruce Buffer starts his introductions

MMA Junkie: WANT TO AVOID A PINK SLIP? FIGHT LIKE UFC 157'S MATT GRICE, WHITE SAYS

UFC roster space is at a premium like never before. Jon Fitch – arguably the third greatest welterweight in UFC history – was a high-profile casualty this past week as officials confirmed they'll be trimming their their roster by a hundred or so fighters.

That made for some nervous fighters at Saturday's UFC 157 event, including Matt Grice. But though the fighter lost for the second time in his past three fights (and fell to 2-5 overall in the organization), his job is safe.

That's according to UFC President Dana White, who awarded Grice (16-5 MMA, 2-5 UFC) a $50,000 "Fight of the Night" bonus following his split-decision loss to fellow featherweight Dennis Bermudez (10-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC).

"When these guys came (backstage) after their fight, obviously [Grice] was really upset," White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I said, 'That's one of those fights where there's no loser. There is no loser in that fight.'

"When you turn on your TV set and you put down your money or you buy a ticket, that's what you expect to show up and see. As a fight fan, those are the kind of fights you want to watch. And those are the kind of fights where guys won't get cut. It's pretty easy – pretty simple."

Bermudez and Grice's back-and-forth, bloody and brutal affair provided thrilling entertainment on the FX-televised portion of the preliminary card. And that's precisely why fighters such as Grice won't lose roster spots, and that's why every event won't necessarily see a round of contract terminations, White said.

"Listen, the cut thing, when I told you guys we were over 100, that's an absolute fact," he said. "Me and (matchmaker) Joe Silva were talking about this tonight. There's going to be a night where we put on a card where there's going to be 15 guys we cut. And then there's going to be a night where we put on a card where we don't cut any of the losers."

Bermudez, who's now won three straight fights since a three-bout skid that his own job in jeopardy, lauded Grice, who dropped him with a left hook in the first round. Bermudez staged a rally and hit him with dozens of crushing blows, but Grice refused to go down.

"This dude is tough, man," Bermudez said. "I was drilling away, and he wasn't dropping. I was like, 'Man, would you fall down already?'"

Grice is assured another UFC fight, and in this case, a good-looking loss probably means more than a bad win. Still, he's not convinced he didn't deserve the victory.

"I just need to go back and watch it again," he said. "I think it was a really close fight. I've got a lot of respect for Dennis. He's a tough competitor.

"I didn't come away with the W tonight. I'm stoked to get the 'Fight of the Night,' but I'd give it back for a win any day. My goal is to come here and win. The 'Fight of the Night' is a bonus, but I came to win. But hat's off to Dennis."

  8. The more I think about it the more awesome the Hendo/Machida matchup becomes. Machida's stance and technique is so badass, and Hendo is just badass in general. I watched the Fedor and Shogun fights today again and Dan Henderson is definitely one of the most entertaining fighters of all time. I think Machida can do better against Jon Jones than Hendo can though, especially Machida's second time at JJ.

    ---------- Post added February-23rd-2013 at 10:03 PM ----------

    Holy **** Bermudez/Grice, incredible fight.

  9. Koscheck via UD

    Neer via TKO round 3

    Faber via UD

    Machida via TKO round 2

Rousey via flying heel hook (if not then armbar) at the end of round 1

    KOTN Machida

SOTN Kenny Robertson with that ridiculous tapout in the FB prelims

    FOTN Rousey/Carmouche or Machida/Hendo

  10. It's weird that the main card, for me in Chicago, starts at 7pm! I'm used to 10pm cards...

Thankfully I have a dinner party to go to tonight anyways so I'm DVRing it and will watch it when I get back. This card should be awesome.

    Quick predictions:

Benson Henderson © vs. Nate Diaz: Oh my goodness. Ben said in the press conference that he and Nate are both aggressive fighters who like to come forward, and I think the general MMA viewer forgot about Ben's skillset because of the Edgar fights. Ben said a fighter as elusive as Edgar makes coming forward very difficult, which is obviously true. Both guys will bring it. Nate will be his usual Stockton Slapfest self and come with volume punches, and Ben will stop the takedowns and most likely kick the **** out of Nate's legs. I don't want this to go to decision, and my brain says it will. However, my heart wants Nate to win via submission. Any submission. In the end, I think the leg kicks will slow down Nate's punches and Benson will grind out a unanimous decision, with FOTN honors. I'm prepared for a bloody fight. If Nate can sub Ben, then it will also win SOTN.

Mauricio Rua vs. Alexander Gustafsson: Shogun.... the ultimate warrior. Alex will have his hands full... This is a toss up since I can see Shogun out mauling Alex but Alex is no slouch either. I'll stick with the Jon Jones theory and go with ambition over experience, and pick Gustufsson via TKO (elbows) in the 3rd.

B.J. Penn vs. Rory MacDonald: Should be the second to last fight IMO. I like both fighters a lot, and Rory against Che and Mike Pyle was an absolute machine of a fighter. He will hit BJ hard... BJ lost all hope halfway through the second round of the Diaz fight, you could see it in his eyes and his demeanor, although he was still connecting and landing major shots on Nick. Nick completely messed BJ's face up, and I think the same will happen here. There was a point where I felt like BJ though "wtf do I have to do to put this guy away... this is NOT worth it." The same thing will happen against Rory. Rory's GnP is really dangerous and accurate. Rory wins this by TKO in the 2nd.. KOTN. BJ retires for good.

Mike Swick vs. Matt Brown: I'm not all that impressed with Brown, and I want Swick to win, so Swick by UD.

  11. Pablo Garza

    Also, breaking news

Bad news, Nick Ring sick, fight with Costa Philippou cancelled.

After falling ill following Friday's weigh in, middleweight Nick Ring has been pulled from his UFC 154 bout against Costa Philippou. There will be no replacement opponent for Philippou, and tonight's card will proceed as scheduled with 12 fights. Moving to the main card will be the lightweight fight between Mark Bocek and Rafael dos Anjos, and the matchup between Antonio Carvalho and Rodrigo Damm now moves to the FX prelim portion of the card
