    Didn't I say that?

    Yup.

Yes except for he was beat by alignment and never had good position. A cover two safety should be 10-12 yds off the ball when snapped. He was much shallower and as slow as he is had no shot at covering that route combo.

Okay. I can't tell who the hell it was. Why does that matter with the analysis part? :ols:

Cover 2 with two verticals the safety needs to get depth, spilt the difference, key QB eyes with peripheral on receivers and react to the ball. Collins did not get depth (was too sallow by alignment), sort of split the difference but that is a moot point without proper depth, reacted late, and got burned badly.

We're the 32nd ranked offense in terms of yardage and 30th in points.  Let's not make it out like Turner's working miracles here because we average more points then the Jets and Giants.

Turner's offense is garbage and Carolina was glad to get rid of him. Look at Carolina's offense now with a real OC compared to Turner's 2nd half 2019 performance. It's night and day. KOC>>Turner. It's evident.

I was cooking at that juncture and I didn't see the final touchdown (I heard it as I cranked the volume). Care to share a cutup of it? I'd like to see it.

I don't have a cut up but was watching live. Shallow crossing tight end ran across his face. Easy pitch and catch w/ Collins trailing.

    Stop.

I'm not going to go that far but he is overpaid/has under performed from a coverage perspective this year. We can say that about most in the secondary but....

When is he matched up with tight ends one on one?

I see a lot of zone coverage with half the secondary out of position when I watch. And, to be honest, he's an in the box SS. This is what he's always been. Literally. The Skins signed him for the money they did and they should have known this is Landon Collins.

And for the record, you say he doesn't force turnovers, but he had a great punchout just yesterday. Not a turnover... but a turnover opportunity.

For what it's worth, he's on pace for his career high in tackles, he's tied for career high in TFL, has a career high in forced fumbles.

I'm not sitting here and claiming he's an all-pro. Just that he's not the problem at this juncture. If you want to argue that the money could have been better spent elsewhere, I won't quibble. Not one bit. But as for his play itself it's level to what he's done.

He got beat for the game winning TD in which he was matched up w/ a 2nd rate tight end. This is the norm and its pretty easy to discern when he is matched up one on one. Eagle tight ends were beating him like a drum last week.

The tackling is great and I agree with your assessment from that standpoint but when it's third down and we are blitzing he has been an easy target.

I expected more. The contract doesn't bother me. It's actually an easy one to get out of when you look at how it is structured.

I dont think he's been anywhere near excellent. He's been solid. I think his deficiency in coverage has been greater than I realised.

Agreed. I'd call him average. Doesn't force turnovers, out of position multiple times in run fits, and gets beat by average tight ends. We need more speed at that position. He's not worth the coin.

Well, that's not particularly his fault though, is it?

He's played very similarly to how he's played every other season in the league.

Collins looks phenomenal if we get a FS to pair him with. Or linebackers that can replace the low safety in coverage easier. But the team doesn't have the personnel or coaches to put him in better positions.

He's definitely made some mistakes, but he's looked the same as the other good players on the D this season. Miscast, out of place and part of an overall problematic defensive structure.

One on one matchups make scheme/structure a non-issue and he loses way more than he wins. A good strong safety should be able to cover up average tight ends.
