It's the basic Sling guide where it's broken down by categories as opposed to  the channel/time layout that cable uses.

Gotcha. Yeah, get a FireStick and you'll have your traditional guide that you're used to. Makes it so much better.

I've got 2 Apple TVs & the cheap Roku in the bedroom. Think I've used the Roku twice in the 2 months I've had it. :ols:

Ah gotcha. I can't remember if the Apple TV has the guide update or not. Once they updated the guide, it made it much more user-friendly, IMO.

I've got them & I don't have a movie package with Sling. They should just show up in your main guide at the top.

Speaking of Guides, I think that's the hardest thing to get used to with Sling is their layout.

What do you watch Sling on? The Guide on the FireTV and FireStick looks just like a regular TV guide.

Sling just added 5 channels of STARZ Freeview & 1 channel of Epix Drive In.

Though I already have STARZ for $9 a month. I may or may not drop it once Power finishes up its season & then replace it with CBS AA.

Are those part of the Movie Package?

Just Sling Blue. I haven't done CBS All Access yet as I can 1) get it OTA & 2) will most likely wait until the Fall when shows start back up.

I don't get ABC on the antenna either. I've either got a big ass tree in the way or I'm outside of their vectored stream direction or whatever it is they call it. I should be good with Hulu to substitute for ABC though.

I'm about 50 miles South of DC. So it's tough to pick up much with an antenna where I am. I've looked into some that are good for a 75 mile range, so I may give it a shot and see what I can pick up.

There's definitely plenty of options now. I've been following along with YouTube TV because they do have all of the major networks, but they don't have as large of a channel selection as Sling. There's really no reason to keep shelling out $100+/month for cable or satellite anymore.

About 2 months now with Sling Blue & Hulu. COX Cable who? :)

With Sling Blue I've also got Axis, El Ray, & BBC America which weren't even available on Cox Cable.

CBS All Access either just did or is coming out with an annual discounted rate as well. And if you're an American Airlines reward member, if you go through the AA rewards store you can sign up for CBS All Access & get 450 miles after 90 days.

Do you just have Sling Blue or Blue + Orange? We have Blue + Orange. It's been really nice. When I cancelled DTV, my bill was $82 and going up to $130. They offered me $100 to stay and I said no thanks. So I'm basically saving $45/month on what DirecTV was charging me and I'm getting a few channels that I lost with DirecTV when I downgraded our package.

Also do CBS All-Access. It's nice, but the thing that bothers me is the picture quality isn't the greatest. Every other app has great looking video, but CBS is lacking. But for $6/month to have access to local CBS that I can't get with Sling, but a ton of shows on-demand, it's worth the cost.

I've been looking into getting an antenna to pick up all the local channels. The only local I can't watch live is ABC, but with Hulu, we can watch all the shows the day after they air, so no real issue there.

I see that Sling has added local channels like Fox for some markets that include the DMV. Living in Philly area I am always looking for better ways to watch the games. Firstly, does anyone know how Sling determines your "local" area? Wouldnit just be billing zip code or IP address?

Subsequenty, does anyone know if NFL games would be blacked out on local tv sling channels?

Yes, Sling uses your billing address for local channels. I would imagine the NFL games on local channels would not be blacked out. And a nice bonus is that you can get the RedZone channel on Sling.

I've been using Sling for about a month now and outside of not being able to watch MASN, I haven't really missed DirecTV.

I have the Echo Dot and think it's pretty useful. Haven't used to full potential  yet, but I like it.

I don't blame him. If callers would ever be reasonable, maybe it wouldn't be that way,, but in this town a win means we're heading to the top and a loss means fire everyone immediately.

It gets rather tiresome. I'd be tired of it having to try and humor such idiocy every day.

    ~Bang

But it seems like whenever people disagree with him, he gets so upset and goes on a rant. I mean 90% of the people that call into sports talk shows are idiots anyway, but Cooley needs to not freak out when people don't agree with him.

Curious to hear what his grade is for Cousins if anyone is listening

So, if he doesn't do what i think he should do, then his thoughts are invalid.

gotta love America...  where you're only free enough to do what others expect of you, or somehow it's invalid.

As far as yelling O!..  i do it in Camden Yards. i wouldn't do it elsewhere,, it's an Orioles thing, not a Redskins thing. (IU might do it in an opposing baseball stadium if the O's were playing..  but it's strictly an Orioles thing.)
And in so far as people finding it disrespectful when we do it in Camden Yards,, well, the fans in Camden yards are a short distance from those ramparts where it was written.

The bombs bursting in air were right over where our heads currently are as the song plays. If not for a few obstructing buildings, we can see where that Star Spangled banner yet waved.

we don't change the song,, we emphasize a word. (Not like "home of the... CHIEFS!".. which i never hear anyone complain about.)

If that offends someone at an Orioles game,, i don't care. Sack up and quit being such a ninny.
And like i said,, to me, that is the only place it is excusable anyway.

Your freedom of speech only applies when it coincides with what I believe in, got it?

As for the "O" during the Anthem, I agree. I only yell it at O's games. Seems silly to hear people yell it during a Redskins game.

It's just funny to me that people get so uptight over this. Kap gave a great response to Trent Dilfer's ignorant crap last night. Dilfer basically said that Kap should be quiet because he's a backup QB and they're job is to be quiet. To which Kap responded perfectly:

“I just heard briefly about it. But I think that’s one of the most ridiculous comments I’ve heard. The fact that you say, ‘You’re a back-up quarterback, stay in your place’… that’s an issue. To me, you’re telling me that my position as a back-up quarterback and being quiet is more important than peoples’ lives. I would ask him to really have a conversation with the families of people that have been murdered and see if he still feels that way. Because I’d bet you he doesn’t. Just because he hasn’t experienced that type of oppression.”

Do you know I feel it equally disrespectful of the FedEx field crowd when they shout "O" during the anthem.  It's all about respect to your country and your flag!

This is interesting and something I've thought of lately. How many people that don't like what Kap is doing also say "O" or "Red" during the Anthem at the local games?

  12. This is an interesting article about the use of the Anthem at sporting events. I'm not sure how I feel about it. On one hand, I do think it's odd that we play the Anthem before every sporting event, but at the same time, it's tradition at this point. I'd be fine if they just resorted to only singing the Anthem before big time events like the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA/NHL Finals, etc.

That's where I am on this too. I think he's gone about it the wrong way, but I don't fault someone for standing up (or sitting down in this case) for something they feel strongly about. It's his right as an American to be able to do something like this.

  14. Lol There were times I wish Griff would've done that so he'd finally start sliding every now and then.

There were a few callers on the Junkies this morning predicting we were gonna get destroyed on Sunday. Primary reasoning being the schedule like usual. An interesting rebuttal that EB had, that no one really had much of a response for was the fact that 3/4 of the wins we had last year were against +.500 teams. I hadn't really thought about that.

I don't think beating good teams or bad teams really matters. You can only play the teams on your schedule. Sure, we were 0-3 against teams with winning records, but look who we lost to. Panthers (15-1), Patriots (12-4), and Jets (10-6). Those games were also all on the road, and those teams were a combined 20-4 at home. Also, take into account there were only 12 teams with winning records in the entire league.

  15. So this one is for ix, who just loves callers.

Was listening to the Junkies on my way in this morning and they were taking calls. This is pretty much word for word what this guy said:

"Kirk Cousins prepares for every football game like it's a football game."

What the hell does that mean? I guess I'm glad he's not preparing for football games like they're baseball games. That would be weird.
