  1. Checked the price of and actually picked up 6 hop 3 and 6 Peg Legs. The original price I quoted was 7.99, I was slightly off, the actual price is 8.49 per 6 pack. So what does the brewery charge?

  2. Does anyone know of a stout beer that isn't too terribly expensive, but still pretty easy to find?

If you're looking for an inexpensive but good stout, I would recommend either Sam Adams Cream Stout(sweete) or a Sierra Nevada Stout(a really good traditional stout).

  3. Looks like I'll be in Hagerstown today, will probably try to drop in to this place. I'm afraid buying craft beer for so cheap will stop be from getting it in Montgomery county again. :ols:

If I was in town today, I would have met you over there. Let me know how it goes.

  4. Wow....it looks like he's selling Heavy Seas for less than what they charge at the brewery after tours. I'm guessing that the only Heavy Seas beers for $7.99 are the Gold Ale or Pale Ale. I can't imagine him selling a six pack of Loose Cannon, or Peg Leg for $7.99. If so, next time I'm within 10 miles of Hagerstown, I'm stopping in and stocking up!!!

I could be wrong, ill take a pic next time I am there.

Picked up a nice little mixed case tonight.

    6 - Dogfish Head Raison D Etre

6 - Mad River Steel Head Double IPA

    6- Sam Adams Cream Stout

    6 - Peroni

    $33.00

I'm not a huge fan of Malty beers, but the Raison De Etre is an excellent beer.

  5. I'm there all the time. Can't believe I haven't seen all those.

He has a decent selection in the cooler(sierra nevada, heavy seas, lancaster, imports), most micros are warm on 2 rows of shelves. he has a nice Individual bottle selection(Trappists, Chimays, Delirium, Rogues etc) right next to the wine cooler.

  6. :yikes:

I sure would LOVE to know the address. Those prices are almost unbelievable. What do you mean the owner doesn't mark up sixers? I don't really understand the math there. Case price divided by 4?

Exactly, most places have a 6 pack price and discount a case. The owner of Longmeadow Beer and Wine, marks up the case and sells 6 packs at his mark up divided by 4. He is really doing a great job of offering a nice selection, I would say he has over 125 micro/imported beers at least, and it's continuously improving.

  7. Yep, their Stout and Extra Stout come to mind right away. Very good stuff. $9.99 here, which isn't bad considering it's from the west coast. Heavy Seas beers are $11.09 and Victory hovers around $18 a sixer, and they're right down the street from here.

    Whaaaaaat?

Beer in Frederick is cheaper than that.

    In Htown.

    Heavy Seas - 7.99

    Victory Hop Devil - 7.99

Victory Hop Wallop and Golden Monkey - 10.99 (both are very good)

Hell, they sell a Victory 12 pack mixer for 15.99.

    Stella - 12.99

Brooklyn Double Chocolate Stout - 6.99 for 4.

    Dogfish Head - 7.99

    Flying Dog - 6.99

Mad River - between 9 and 10 per 6'er. For some reason Jamaica Brand Red Ale is the most expensive.

If you ever need the address of this place let me

know. The owner doesn't mark up 6 packs, he takes the case price / 4 and puts it on the shelf.

  8. A 12 pack of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale...had about 5 tonight. Great session beer, too bad it's pretty expensive over here. I still think as a craft beer alone it's pretty overrated. The American Craft Beer Fan Bible must state: You are required to LOVE Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Neh, I'd take plenty of Sierra Nevada's selection over the APA.

The Sierra Nevada Stout is on the money, it sells in my neck of the woods for 6.40 a sixer, which is a steal.

  9. Stocked up a little variety today, the Victory 12 pack sampler(best sampler out there), 6 Steel Head Extra Stouts (I'm really excited about this brew) and a 6er of Sam Adams Latitude 48. I cracked a SA IPA a couple of minutes ago, I must say, it's pretty damn good, by far the best beer they make.

  10. Interesting, I like the Lancaster Milk Stout a lot. The Hop Hog is one my least favorites that I have tried, you open it expecting an IPA and you get a bad nut brown ale. I had a very hard time finishing the 6 pack. I remember someone in this thead with a similar opinion saying they used it as beer batter.

BTW, supposedly this is a top seller at the beer store I prefer to visit.

  11. 8.88 a case? Not a fan but that's a great deal, not that it matters, but it must have been expired??

    ---------------------------------------------------

Had an Abita Turbo Dog last night, this is the first one of these I have had in a long time. I would actually highly recommend this to anyone who is trying to get into the world of micro brews, it's real easy going, has some great flavors and isn't over powering. The Abita Jacamo is pretty good as well.

The downside to Abita is their packaging lacks appeal, if they change their packaging, I think it would become very popular simply because it's so drinkable.

  12. Steel Head Double IPA, by Mad River Brewing Company out of Humboldt California is probably one of the better double IPA's I've had. Tons of smells and a lingering tangerine sweetness that sticks around for a while.

I give this one a solid A, it easily belongs in the category of "BIG" beer.

  13. Picked up 6 raging *****, 6 DFH 60 minutes, 4 DFH Punkins and 12 pack Victory mixer that includes 4 Hop devils, 4 golden monkeys and 4 Prima Pils.

The Victory mixed 12 pack is by far the best mixed 12 pack I have had yet. The Prima Pils is the best Pilsner I have tried(solid A), the Golden Monkey and the Hop Devil are both excellent as well. The Golden Monkey is a Belgian Style Ale that has an expiration of 2013, yeah, a few of these wil do a number on you at 9.5 percent. All 3 are great beers and for 15.99 this 12 pack is a steal.
