The last regime definitely stunted his growth (much like Ramsey) but I'm not ready to give up on him yet. I think competent coaching and defensive scheme will help.

    I agree.

I'd like to at least give Forbes a chance with a good coaching staff that may be building something great.

Last season, Forbes had to deal with a staff that was coaching with one foot out the door. Just going through the motions because they knew the purge was coming.

Let's see what he can do with this new regime this offseason. If he isn't any better, he'll be gone before the season starts.

  2. 3 of our first 4 games are away games.

Doesn't look like a ton of traveling for the Washington this season. Only one trip to the west coast (week 4 in Arizona). Playing the AFC North this year who are all relatively close to D.C. helps that.

    Pretty good schedule.

Forbes isn't gone unless he's traded.

    Mathis is disappointing though

    Nah.

They will certainly cut Forbes if he doesn't show advancement in the offseason, training camp and preseason workouts.

Keep in mind, this new regime didn't choose him or hire him. So they have no attachment to him.

Mathis better start looking over his shoulder, as Newton is coming in with a lot of hype.

If that hype turns out to be reality,  Mathis may be changing his address too.

  4. I expect the team to be competitive and not a lot more.

It's the reason Peters said he brought in all those free agents this offseason. Mostly on 1 or 2 year deals.

So the team will at least be competitive while he and the front office build Washington back to a championship contender.

I like that. Peters is not willing to sit and languish in the cellar of the NFL while he rebuilds this team.

Might as well put a competitive team on the field, even if it isn't going anywhere this year.

We aren’t trading Allen. Why are people allergic to stacking talent?

    So true.

How do you develop quality depth on the team if for every DT you bring in, you get rid of another one.

Having a nice rotation of players that include Payne,  Allen and Newton is best. :815:

Woah did you have an interenet issue two or three posts up?

    Yep :ols:

I hit 'submit' but nothing happened.

So I hit 'submit ' six more times. :ols:

Then they all showed up in one post several minutes later.

    Weird.

    I edited it. 😀

Defense heavy draft is quite surprising IMO.

Considering our defense gave up 389 yards per game last season (worst in the NFL), it's not surprising that free agency and the draft have had a heavy defensive focus.

The later rounds are almost unwatchable.  These idiots think we want to hear them babble and crack stupid jokes.  Annoying. Announce the picks and discuss each player!  How freaking hard can it be?

That's why I prefer ESPN's third day coverage over NFL Network.

They'll let several players get drafted then review as many as time allows.

I don't know what the heck NFL Network is doing. They are doing segments with dogs and some 'truck vs. world' game.

Are they just bored? Maybe they ought to move to different programming if they don't feel like covering the draft anymore.
