Look, you understand in science there are always exceptions.  If you've found that you can lose weight by exercise alone, good for you you're an exception.

The NYT article that I posted more recently and the Vox article that I posted before lay out the science pretty well.  But science at that level is based on the averages.  And some people will be exceptions.

Any time a topic like this comes up like this, I'm pretty careful to include things like for most people in most of posts.  Following the science is good, but if you've got something that works for you I'd say ignore the science and keep doing it.

All of your posts are pretty much identical of what I’ve read, learned (from others) and experienced.

And since I can’t even get people here to try my TV recommendations… I’ll be damned if I’m going to dispense medical/health advice/info 😂

It’s just healthier for me to observe/spectate now.

"...and people are still acting like this is a normal election."  ^^^

Exactly. Said loooooong ago that this upcoming election is NOT a choice between Biden and Trump. It's not a choice between Democrat or Republican. It's a choice between Democracy and Authoritarianism. And I didn't mean it figuratively. There's no "negative" with Democracy that makes Authoritarianism a better option. None. That's why "But Biden's old/But the polls" is such an asinine argument to be making or having. I wish people would stop rationalizing why it's ok to support Trump. There is not one single valid argument to make to support Trump that doesn't involve just a ****-ton of avoidance, rationalization, intellectual laziness, and industrial-strength blinders. Because the only other logical and rational explanation is that they truly do want the United States to become an Authoritarian country and are cheering on that possibility.

Except not really though. If you listen to any interview of a MAGAt, they’re already under the impression that the USA is ruled by/under an authoritarian (Biden) regime.

The persecution of political opponents is one of the bedrocks of their argument.

They’re fine with an authoritarian regime though, as long as it’s theirs.

I’ve been married so long I don’t even know what that means anymore. There is no such thing as my money. There’s just our finances and with my wife being an accountant, she’s claimed this as her territory.

I let her take over the finances entirely.

I found it necessary if I wanted a long-term relationship with her. Otherwise, we’d be fighting over money all the time.

Just like parenting, we just have different ideas about how to do things.

But neither is more important to me than our relationship. I’d rather be broke and penniless with her… than financially secure without her. And she’s the best mom… much better mom than wife… and my kids are incredibly lucky to have her as their mom.

So I’m happy to do things her way… until/unless it fails and she willingly cedes (or asks for help). She can take all the glory or blame.

That doesn’t mean I don’t have some criticisms, and we do talk about them when necessary.

So far, we’re cruising along. 😎

How many small purchases equal one large purchase?

    Asking for a friend.

Females often exploit that loophole 😂

Men generally make big purchases (stereo equipment, big screen tvs, ATVs, etc. while women generally nickel and dime… but still spend the same amount. 😂

    My wife/girlfriends: “I bought X… it’s was on sale for $5. So I bought 400 of them.”

“But don’t worry, I’m probably going to return about a dozen though.”

    😂

From the CNN updated page on this, I wish Merchan had required Trump to stand up and say that either he understood that he could testify or that he still didn't.

Judge to Trump: Gag order doesn't "prevent you from testifying in any way"

Judge Juan Merchan is beginning court today by clarifying to Donald Trump that he has the "absolute" right to testify if he chooses.

Merchan says he is doing this to clarify the gag order.

"The order restricting extrajudicial statements does not prevent you from testifying in any way," Merchan says. "It does not prohibit you from taking the stand and it does not limit or minimize what you can say."

Judge Merchan: “Mr Trump… please inform the court, are you a dumb dumb or a liar?”

It's too early to say they learned anything...if they hover around .500 in the playoffs again this year...yea, they learned nothing.

Dropping that game 2 was a red alert to something we've seen for years from them, not an overreaction, more like "here we go again".

Celtics completely overpowered what was left of that team...I'm not always right, but I'm suprised you already calling they provide folks wrong and they got at least 3 more rounds to go.

Yes, the Celtics should be the heavy favorite to come out of the East.

I think my Knicks are the best chance of knocking them off… but I wouldn’t bet they will. I’d be content with a long contested series.

And while I’d love the Celts to get beaten by another underdog… I wasn’t getting excited over that game 2 loss. That wasn’t nearly enough to make me think that team is in any way vulnerable.

Are you really gloating about the Celtics beating the *checks notes* 8th seed in the first round after they lost their best player during the series?

That's what they're supposed to do, not lose by double digits to this same squad without Jimmy Butler in Boston.  That's what lead to this conversation.

You don't get a goldstar for paying your child support on time...

Knicks fan finally in a good mood. So happy for you : )

I never accused either of you of predicting an upset because you didn’t.

What you both said was that the Celtics were “inconsistent” and “hadn’t learned previous lessons” all because they lost 1 game in a series that required to Heat to shoot at an all-time historical clip.

It was typical individual game fan over-reactions. 😜

The Celts then went on to win 3-straight… including a home victory… by an average margin of approx 30 points. And won the series 4-1.. which next to a sweep is still dominant.

So I wouldn’t dare call that team “inconsistent”. And the Celtics ^did^ show they learned something from last year. And Tatum told us so too 😂

lol the Celtics are up and down, and they did get shelled by a very injured Miami team. Their uneven nature will be apparent in the finals, assuming they play a healthy opponent.

That happens in a 7-game playoff series (1 stinker game).

And I think the stat was the Heat were 23/46 on 3 pointers. Franchise record.

A total anomaly was the only way it could have happened.

Chatter? Did some Miami fans think they had a chance? lol Eastern playoffs are all injuries. Bucks, 76ers, and Heat all have their best players hurt.

    Technical difficulties. 😂 See above.

The Celtics are so uneven in the post season. None of these games against a badly injured Heat team should be close. Yet, it looks like they’re taking a home loss tonight. For shame.
