REDSKINS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed free agent defensive lineman Hebron Fangupo (Hee-bron, Fang-ooh-po) to the team’s practice squad. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In addition, the team released defensive lineman Derrick Hopkins from its practice squad and waived safety Bacarri Rambo from its active roster.

Fangupo (6-0, 324) originally signed with the Houston Texans as a college free agent on May 14, 2012, before being waived on Aug. 31. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad on Sept. 11, 2012, before being added to Seattle’s active roster on Dec. 20. He appeared in one game with Seattle before being released by the team on Dec. 28.

Fangupo was claimed off waivers by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec. 29, 2012. He appeared in four games with the Steelers during the 2013 season. He was then released by Pittsburgh on Aug. 26, 2014, before signing with the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad on Sept. 1. Fangupo was released by the Chiefs on Sept. 9.

Fangupo played collegiately at Brigham Young in 2011, where he appeared in 13 games with 10 starts and was named second-team All-Independent by Phil Steele. He played for Southern California (2009-10) and Mt. San Antonio Junior College (2007-08) prior to his time at BYU.

Fangupo, 29, attended Santa Ana (Calif.) H.S., where he was named All-CIF Division IX first-team as a senior in 2003. He was born on July 19, 1985.
