KMP
Two thirds of the Joe Gibbs Racing Team will be down in Bristol, TN for a weekend of short track racing. The Winston Cup series holds the Goracing.com 500 on Saturday night at 7:30 EDT on ESPN. Bobby Labonte holds a 111 point lead on defending champion, Dale Jarrett. Bobby's not a great short track driver but his teammate Tony Stewart is pretty good. Stewart will try NOT to hit Jeff Gordon this weekend as the two have tangled the last two races. Although if they do there will probably be a tire iron fight in the garage area. The Busch Series also at Bristol this weekend will run the Food City 250 tonight at 7 EDT also on ESPN. Jeff Purvis in the #4 car and Jason Leffler in the #18 car take the green flag for Joe Gibbs Racing. I'll be switching over to the Redskins game at 8. On Sunday afternoon son Coy Gibbs will run his #20 truck in the Sears Craftsman 175 part of the Craftsman Truck Series on the recently opened Chicago Motor Speedway. You can catch the action on ESPN at 12:30 EDT. Good luck fellas!
KMP
True to form Tony Stewart ran well on the short track of Bristol to take 2nd place behind Rusty Wallace in the Goracing.com 500. Bobby lost 20 points in the season standings to Dale Jarrett by finishing 15th. Bobby's not exactly a good short track racer and his main goal was just to finish and not loose too much ground on Jarrett and Earnhardt. Coy Gibbs had one of his better finishes taking 13th place in the Craftsman Truck Series race at Chicago Motor Speedway. Busch Series racers Jeff Purvis took 7th and Jason Leffler took 36th overall in the Food City 250 also at Bristol. ------------------
indyskinsfan
Thanks for the wrapup KMP, I've been MIA lately on the racing circuit. I'm just getting used to keeping up with it and like it a lot. indyskinsfan
KMP
Indy, Sept. 9 I'll be in Richmond for the Winston Cup's running of the Chevy Monte Carlo 400. This will be my second race on the season and hopefully Bobby runs better than he did at Bristol. I think Tony's the defending champ of this race as well. Should be fun. ------------------
