The Fans Finally Make a Difference, FedExField Rocks

This is a clip from the Daily Press in Hampton. See full Article at http://www.dailypress.com/sports/stories/91697sy0.htm

AN ADVANTAGE, FINALLY. Though the Redskins' new stadium that opened four years ago holds nearly 30,000 more fans than their old digs at RFK Stadium, the new one never seemed as noisy as the old one.Until Sunday.

Some of the players noted that FedExField rocked like never before. Defensive lineman Dan Wilkinson said he believed the Redskins had the real home field advantage for the first time in years.

"The fans were tremendous," Wilkinson. "I remember one time (Bucs' fullback Mike) Alstott came in with a play and was screaming it in (quarterback Shaun) King's ear. He put his mouth by King's ear, screamed it and King couldn't hear him. They had to go to the sidelines to get the play."

It must have been the crew that went to HogFest 2000 that made the Fans finally get to their feet and create a cheer loud enough to be heard 10 miles away. It was like the entire inside of the stadium was the voice of one huge living creature, I am still hoarse.

When we got up by 10 points high fives were going all around and people thinking it was all over started to leave the stadium. Those that stayed soon felt a sinking feeling when the Bucs came screaming back to tie it. But the remaining Fans continued with that enormous din to confuse the Bucs. I myself continued until no sound would come from my throat. Normally, not a single sound could be heard from the Club Level and Box seats except for Daniel Snyder's box and where Blade and I sit on the Club Level, but yesterday's game all levels of the stadium erupted in one continual deafening sound, FedExField finally came alive and Rocked.

When the game finally ended and people were filing toward the exits, you could hear them all singing Hail to the Redskins.

TextTextI was there for the Bucs/Skins game, and it was awsome. My wife and myself, traveled from West Virginia to attend the game, and it was well worth the drive. Fed Ex Field did rock, and the sound of the Baha Men "Who Let The Dogs Out ?" filled the air almost all evening long. We only get the chance to attend one home game a year, and this trip has been the best by far. Our voices were almost gone by games end, but not so far gone, that we couldn't join in on the last "Hail To The Redskins" !

It's nice to know that the 12th man helped out in the overtime victory against the Bucs !!
