SPare
A couple of years ago, I put together a rating system for draft prospects. All it did was take the ratings from a variety of sources (they were all free from the Internet in those days), and assign different weightings to each before averaging them out. Looking back at it now, something interesting emerges- the best indicator for success comes from the rankings before, and just after the college season. In other words, when a guy shoots up the boards after the senior bowl, or after the combine, typically he's going to bust, whereas the guy who drops tends to be the "hidden" gem. I think that the cause for this is that it values game day performance over athleticism. Certainly there are exceptions to this, but it's an interesting tendency to say the least. jschlesi
Could you share with us some rankings from this and last year. I would be interested in reading them.
Shotgunner
Then there is the combine and who goes and workouts and who doesn't. It has turned into a real science project.
