Ghost of Posted March 16, 2004 Share Posted March 16, 2004 The recent events in SPain after the bombings will aid AQ in recruitment as much or more than any perceived action by the US. The fact that with one act of murder they were able to shift the election AND likely help isolate the US from one of its staunchest allies during the War on Islamists will greatly enhance the prestige of AQ among those wavering on their stance. Sadly, that is a far greater number than many want to admit, but this could gain many more new recruits for AQ. AQ can say, "See, we did change things. And it's only the beginning. Soon the West will tuck tail and run from the Middle East. Governments will be toppled and the Caliph shall rule from Tehran to the Straits of Gibraltar again."
